Now before anyone starts trashing me in noway am i saying we shouldnt have got Oku or Brown!

But does anyone think we have to many RB's on this team?

Hardesty ( Senior )
Creer ( Junior )
Poole ( Sophomore )
T. Williams ( FRESHMAN )
Oku ( FRESHMAN )
Brown ( FRESHMAN )
C.J. Jackson ( FRESHMAN )

Thats alot of Freshman running backs needed to share one ball. Does anyone get redshirted & does anyone end up transferring?

between some possible redshirts and the fact that Oku could very well land in Hargrave for a year, it's not that bad. Plus screw it, let the best backs play regardless of seniority.

Williams should be a FB and Hardesty will only be in on short yardage plays

It should be Creer, Brown, and Oku for the most part.

Seriously? We just landed the #1 player in the country...

When was the last time we did that?

Would you feel bad about signing Lebron James if we were stacked at forward?

No way do we have too many RB's! Some of them, including BB can play different positions if needed.

not a UT basketball fan, but I'd feel awful. UT would get the death sentence in basketball if they signed James now.

IMO....

After watching practice on Friday, I guess that Hardesty will retain his share of the carries as well as Creer, but Poole will drop down the depth chart. Williams looked good but will likely see little PT unless it's at FB. Hardesty will be the short yardage back, Creer or Brown the starter, and Oku will see a lot of spot duty if he makes it academically.

They also used Hardesty a lot on passing downs and with screens, so it will be interesting to see who is the third down back come September.

too few "o's", but to answer the question, no.

Having a plethora of RB's only adds competition in practice as well as options during games. Specialty backs that go in on 3rd and short, or breakout guys that hang opposing defenses for 20+ yard explosions on 1st or 2nd. Its all good. Keep em' rested and keep em' coming. You can never have too many options.

Considering Hardesty hasn't shown he can stay healthy and Creer, while definitely talented, hasn't proven he can be the feature back, I don't think we have too many RBs.

Poole is the guy I would imagine might have the most thoughts of transferring. I hope he sticks it out and gives us depth after Hardesty graduates especially, but I can see him thinking Creer/Brown/Oku will end up with the majority of carries and he might have better luck moving somewhere else.

:good!:Even White- Bush and Brown- Cadillac got dinged up throughout the year. We need the depth, especially as the freshman learn blocking schemes when they aren't running for the house (still prefer screens if they are rushing too hard, but I am comfortable in my la-z-boy.
Besides- when is the last time that we a legit chance for a RB to break open and carry a game on his back? I think this will push the entire stable to run harder and faster. Jamal? How long ago was that?

If we need to make it easier on the QB's, having the #1 All purpose RB and the #1 RB (not to mention #1 overall by some picks) can only help. Giddy up.

Oh, dare I forget to mention- having Freakin' Eric Berry on the other side of the ball can't hurt...much....unless you play WR for the Dawgs or Gators.
BIT- Has anyone know if they update the recruiting rankings? Looks like Oku and BB could put us in top 10 running as far as team recruiting rankings.

At this point I'm going by the USC offense with big backs and fast backs.

Big Backs
Toney Williams FR
Tauren Poole Soph
Hardesty SR - IMO he's both

Speed backs
Oku Fr
Brown Fr
Hardesty SR
Creer JR
