Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Merged )

So.... I know its Basilio which not everyone loves but.......

Its not 100% done yet, but people inside the program, including DW believe Tony is going.
Posey and Vitello have grown close over the course of this program search.
Most believe, its just to try it, and its all about the oppurtunity.
Some around the program believe Tony is upset because theyve messed with his NIL budget.

I’m not the coach that preached “Loyalty” for the last 7 yrs. I get it in today’s world that words don’t mean much but there was a time (I’m 59) that words did mean something. Have you ever heard the phrase, My word is my bond?

I know I know he never promised to retire from UT I get it. Again congrats to him if he takes the Giants job.

I'm all about loyalty and I agree 100% a man's word is his bond.
However how can you fault a man for taking a position at the Pinnacle of his profession.

If he leaves, he is a coach who brought us a title; for that I will be grateful.

Legends are lifers. Summitt, Neyland, Fulmer.

Legends get statues and stadiums named after them.

Tony will be a nice memory who had a chance to be a legend if he’d stayed.

You have no way of knowing Fulmer or Summitt wouldn’t have left for pro jobs either.

It’s going to hurt for sure, but Tony was loyal. Remember when LSU tried to hire him in the basement of the Omaha Marriott during the CWS? He could have picked his program (LSU, Texas, etc.) and he stayed. To me, that’s loyalty.

You also fail to mention the Giants were 10 games over .500 and only 2 games behind the Dodgers prior to trading for that cancer Devers. Tony will course correct that guy or else he will get shipped off. Giants have a very long recent history of winning. Diamondbacks do not. They just traded away their best power hitter this season to the Mariners to help them get to the precipice of the World Series. So yes, you really don’t know what you are talking about.
All I know is that Vitello embraced the challenge of bringing UT baseball from the depths of misery and won a freaking natty. Miraculous IMO. If he can do that here, he can turn any MLB team around.
