How would you know it was that Tony Robinson?I mean there's what 14/16 million people in Florida.

It's him, he was one of my first VOL heroes. I was 15 years old when I saw him play. I would recognize him anywhere, still have my Sports Illustrated with Tony on the cover and my #10 T.Rob jersey.

1985...where did the time go?

The first two UT games I attended in Neyland Stadium were in '85. Unbelievably they were the two ties. I went to the season opener and watched us squander a 26-10 fourth quarter lead against UCLA, giving up two TD's and two 2 pt conversions in the final 8 minutes.

Then I went to the GT game the week after Robinson was lost for the season. We couldn't do anything on offense and trailed 6-3 late. I was with my dad and we, along with what seemed like half the stadium left in the final 2-3 minutes. Once we got outside the stadium we heard a huge cheer from inside and then a guy came running down the street saying UT just kicked a game tying FG after getting the ball back in the final minute or so.

After that, I never left another game early again.

That was D Dickey's second game.... We faired really well the rest of the season with him at QB... But he was no Tony Robinson...Bo Jackson and Auburn were No 1 and he was the Heisman... Put 35 or 39 on them and Bo exited stage right with 49 yards... only game we lost that year was to FL I do believe 17-10. If there had be a playoff that season we would have won it... hands down

I remember that game because that FG was no chip shot. It was from 55 yards away and when Carlos Reveiz made it, my Dad and I yelled so loud that it scared my little sister and made her cry. :eek:lol:

I also remember that that game was televised on TBS and had a kickoff at 11:30. Hated having to get up early on Saturday and walk from Hess to make an 11:30 kickoff.

Man, just looking back at some of the players we had... Robinson, Webb, Pickens, Dale Carter... we had some electric guys run through Knoxville. I sure do miss seeing those type of guys. :cray:

i havent read the entire thread yet, but i remember fokls saying things about john henderson and donte stallworth when they were freshmen that folks are saying now about some of our young guys.

i think eric berry will end up being one of those legends here. i think coker could have been...

:) ... I remember seeing later how long a kick it was. It was funny because that tie really felt like a win, whereas the tie vs. UCLA definitely felt like a loss

You must be thinking of a different game. This one was at night.
