Here are a few things that I found interesting heading into tonight's match-up with MSU.

*Tennessee is tied for third nationally with 11 interceptions. Not bad considering the front seven isn't getting much pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The Vols rank last in the conference in quarterback sacks.

*In last years game versus MSU, Tennessee rushed for over 200 yards. This year, that rushing total may be a telling sign of the health of the Vols rushing attack. The Bulldogs rank #11 in the SEC this season in rushing defense. After averaging 7.8 yards per carry in his first two games, Arian Foster has averaged just 3.3 ypc in his last four games.

*Tennessee's passing offense may have a tough time with Nick Stevens starting just his third career game. MSU's pass defense is ranked #2 in the conference this season.

*There are several coaching ties between these two teams. You may remember that Woody McCorvey was an assistant at Tennessee from 99-03 and Pat Washington was on the Vols staff from 95-05. Stan Drayton was on Sylvester Croom's first staff at MSU in 2004.

*Looking down the season statistics for these two teams, they are nearly identical. The biggest discrepancy - Tennessee tends to give up more passing yards (179.8 per game) and MSU tends to allow more rushing yards (156.2 per game).

*For what it's worth, Brandon Warren is listed third on the current depth chart at tight end.

*The Bulldogs could be due for a letdown. Vandy was the highest ranked team MSU has defeated since 2000 (Florida).

*Since the start of SEC divisional play, Tennessee has the highest winning percentage against the opposite division of any team. The Vols sport a .704 clip against the Western division.

*The game looks to be a defensive battle. Tennessee and MSU are the two worst teams in the league in TD's scored this season.

*Georgia's 10 minute and 55 second drive last week against the Vols is the longest in the conference this season.

*Nick Stevens is 24-49 for 406 yards in his last two starts. He did not throw an interception in either game. Last week also marked the second start for MSU QB Tyson Lee. He finished 12-22 for 81 yards.

*Tennessee ranks dead last in the SEC in the following categories: net punting, opponent third down conversion, sacks, and time of possession.

That was starting the fourth quarter and was the major reason Georgia won the game. I thought I was gonna pull out all of my hair during that clock killing drive.

So if there was ever a game to just knuckle down and establish the run, this game is it. Let's hope we don't out-think ourselves. Too bad Majors can't coach tomorrow.

The last three years I have the percentage at .500. The loss at Auburn drops it to .471.

Yeah, sometimes extrapolation over too long of a period of time gets misleading.

This game has that 6-3 feel to it. A real offensive slugfest or just a slug i don't know. Boring bob will have me asleep by the second quarter.

I might stream the MSU feed or hope that XM has that feed instead of Kessling.

Brandon Warren is getting that Big Orange Screw.

Guess that means he is on tract to graduate (after multiple headaches). Good luck Brandon and welcome to the club. I wonder when he will be asked to contribute money to the University.

I thought it was because UGA has superior athletes and coaches.

We get it going today. Then Espn will put Alabama on upset alert for next week and they will be BCS #1 coming in...
If we win today, I wonder what our BCS ranking will be? I can't do algebra...

You know, we put all the blame on the offense, but half of these stats are on what was supposed to be (and sadly still appears to be) our strong suit

Tennessee is also the only 1-A team that has not recovered a fumble. Hopefully that changes today.

I would have used the term "offensive ineptitude" in there somewhere, but I think I understand your point.

That was starting the fourth quarter and was the major reason Georgia won the game. I thought I was gonna pull out all of my hair during that clock killing drive.

That 97 yard 90 second drive didn't help any, either. It took the game from "right back in it" to "uphill climb."

Lets just hope MSU allows us some decent rushing yards today.
If we stay with it long enough. We got to get our defense off the field. 45 plays on offense last week was rediculous. I would bench anyone laying off their man more than five yards on third and short. If the coaches are really saying its the kids playing to far off. I don't know who to believe there. Haven't heard any response on that from the players. We are absolutely pitiful on 3rd downs.
