thanks.

Clawson sounds really good in front of the mic. Real football savvy and makes a lot of sense with what he says and wants to do. I think if and when a coaching change is made, the new head coach should be allowed to name his own assistants, but I'd love to see what Clawson can do at UTK with a competent QB and a better overall offense.

he's pretty skirmy, moving around

liked the first question about going to the sideline

would like to see him give that a shot

he just doesn't look comfortable, or confident
I have to disagree. He didn't hesitate, or have to stop and think about with any of his answers. He sounded like he knows which direction he wants to go with the offense.

Now to get the roadblock (Phil) to let him take the offense in that direction.

He shouldn't look comfortable. The season thus far has been a failure, primarily due to his offense and QB. He's also trying to deal with the QB situation diplomatically.

Of course, he can't truly run his offense without his players.

edit: I agree that he looks comfortable for the situation. Especially when not discussing QBs.

i agree completely with this statement. I don't see how anyone can claim he doesn't look confident. He's not stuttering and he has an answer for everything they throw at him, no matter how ridiculous it is (ie, eric berry on offense)

He handled him well, yes. But I don't agree with what he said about our running game. It doesn't seem like we're running the ball that well.

I don't think so. Crompton has just looked terrible and is apparently grasping very little. It's hard to be successful when you can't run what you want because the QB isn't getting it.

Our running game has been about as good as it can be when we don't have a passing threat. Just like he mentioned, it's hard to the run the ball with 8 in the box. If our passing attack would ever get on track I think you'd see how dominant our running game can be, but sadly up to this point other teams Ds have been able to sell out on the run against us b/c they're willing to risk us attempting to throw the ball.

He said we are running the ball well but we haven't been able to connect with the open receivers enough for the other team to respect our passing game. That's why they are loading up the box and daring us to pass. He also was explaining everything they were doing to get the passing game going but the qb isn't checking down to secondary receivers well enough and is throwing the ball out of bounds when the prinmary receiver is covered. He said the receivers have had reasonable success getting open but the qb isn't seeing them or if he does see them getting them the ball where they can make plays. Pay attention.. :)

I still have confidence in Clawson, and I agree that our impotence on offense has been due to poor QB play. This guy knows and talks football very well. He's not evasive, he's honest, and his explanations make sense.

Hang in there, Dave.

even though he squirmed ab-it he still made sense in how he spoke and the straight answers he gave. Instead of the "we didn't get stupid over night" speech Fulmer gave after the florida game. Remember Clawson came from a small school and is not used to the Media a larger school generates. I believe he is a good coach but Fulmer still has a tight grip on the offense as far as what play gets sent out to the QB. We need somebody with a good head on their shoulders and not the "we didn't get stupid" blame.

Dave will be a casualty of circumstance i'am afraid. Sounds like a intelligent guy. What a shame.
