I debated whether to start it or not after yesterday, but figured I might as well relive past /positive memories.
I'll do the best I can to bring at least a quick smile to those who read it each day......
"Today in Tennessee football history.........." we remain the laughingstock of College Football !
I remember watching this one on TV, great memories.September 9, 1972........
At Grant Field in Atlanta, Condrege Holloway became the first black quarterback to start a game in SEC history. His dazzling scrambling and deft passing were on display in front of a national ABC TV audience. Early in the game, Holloway threw a pick in the flat. Instinctively, he chased down the Tech player and made a TD saving tackle at the 6 yrd line. The defense would hold Tech to their only points in the Vols 34-3 victory. Holloway later said it was the greatest play of his entire career.

Tony Robinson was one of my favorites to watch. When is TN going to finally realize that a dual threat QB is what it takes in the SEC. They are much harder to cover. And before someone says it, JG is NOT a dual threat. Hell my grandson could bring him down.
TR "could" run, but didn't....because he had a line that could block the Titans DLine. He was (IMO) the most talented QB to ever wear Orange.I didn't remember Tony Robinson as a dual threat when he played and 195 yards for a career is pretty pedestrian considering he threw for 17 times as many yards. Heath Shuler by comparison had 395 yards rushing and threw for more than 10 times more yards. JMO, but the reason the qb's don't run as much anymore can be attributed to what happened to T-Rob when he ran the ball. Career ending knee injury.
