I’d like to know why Tobe Awaka ended up transferring to Arizona, he had improved substantially from freshman to sophomore years and I’m betting his game would have improved more here at UT vs at AZ. Just imagine if he had not transferred, both he and Carrey together would have been beasts on the court.

I wonder if Barnes wishes he had not transferred or was he glad to see him leave.

There was some stuff there about his role with Aidoo there but Aidoo obviously left too. But there was more to it than just that. And to me, doesn’t seem like he made a bad decision. Wish he would’ve stayed tho.

He left because he thought Aidoo was staying. Then Calipari threw a bag at Aidoo and he left too. Oh well. Opened the door to get Okpara, so worked out fine in the end.
...and my personal opinion, Cary did for us this year something similar to what Awaka could have done, so I'm cool with Okpara and Cary.

Getting Okpara here was more beneficial to us. I hope people realize Felix is one of the best defensive big men all time in Barnes system. His ability to guard a PG-5 was amazing and huge asset for us. His offense improved tremendously after CRB grew tired of the weak move to the rim as bd told him to just dunk the dang ball. I liked Okpara the longer this season went.

Agree. That being said, ir would have been pretty amazing if we had Okpara, Carey and Awaka on the floor. We'd have looked like some of the best Houston teams...or Williams/Schofield teams.

Heard Aidoo and not Carr. Carr had already left?

Last night was about the 2nd game I have seen AZ play all year. I really don't see Awaka having improved that much from his days in Knoxville. he was a really good rebounder then as well as not a big scorer. 2 years later I saw the same last night. I'm sure he is a good kid, but like others said, the bag was pretty big there for him. We all know he would have been better off staying put.

One thing about last nights game , it made me feel less badly about the loss to Michigan. Arizona was considered a shoo in. All I can say is that the last two games Michigan has looked as impressive as any college team I can recall in a lot of basketball watching and playing. May not last but my goodness they were untouchable last two games.
