Explain his mother saying this during his recruitment:

"I had heard how recruiting would be, but to be in it, it was like, 'Wow,' " Virginia said. "I felt like I handled it pretty good. DeAnthony did very well, I think because his brothers kind of got involved."

DeAnthony's father "never knew how to be a father," Ralph said, so Virginia relied on her sons to serve as de facto father figures for one another. Ralph looked up to Eric as a father and DeAnthony does the same with Ralph.

Personally I think this kid saw Hunter's return along with the WR's coming in and didn't like his chances. I think Vincent Dallas is the better of the 2 and has the biggest upside anyways!

No intention to make anyone mad... On that note, arnett barely knows his dad, he's not involved in the kids life and, this whole sudden want to leave is all Bagget. Under the table deal, Bagget gets Michigan st job arnett comes with as a package deal. Dooley knows this and won't have any of it!

DA brought his personal life into this by putting the school and coach on blast and exploiting his "father's" illness. It's fair game.

To my knowledge nobody here sent letter to the KNOX Media. Kids are immmature, it happens. Dooley granted the kid a release to the nearest D1 school to his Dad.

Great Job DD !!!! That is amazing that he took the time to find the kid a home to play D1 Ball !

Wait................that's not good enough ???

I thought you needed a scholly to be near your sick father ?

Oh .... Mom says you and your Father aren't close, but I'm sure he wants to make ammends, so here you go. A free ride to the closest D1 college !

Not good enough ? Weird ???

Go Dooley Go !

This is a quote by Arnett
I never knew the conditions for my Father would worsen like this. 2 heart attacks, dialysis, etc.. has made it so I cannot focus on anything but his health/well being. I never imagined being unable to have my dad at any games or me being able to see him as he endures his battle with health. Yes I want to play football but I NEED to be here for my dad and with my family.
If that is the case, why is he not satisfied to go to CMU?

I'd venture to say that the people bashing Dooley on this either know very little about the details(as most of us do given the fact that we get information from other sources other than Dooley and Arnett) or just want to blame Dooley for anything they can because he can't wave a magic wand and turn this program into a title contender overnight.

A 3 to 1 girl-to-guy ratio, with coeds like this on their campus:

What is not to like?

I went there for MayFest years ago. The girls didn't behave themselves...and I was very thankful for that.

Well, the girl in question should be a Senior this year--if she still goes there. Her name is Cassie Keller. She's the one on the left in this pic.

Yep...that is the CMU I remember. Like I said, a whole lot of fun. If I were Arnett, then that would be a definite consideration.

So many of these young men need to stick with their commitments. He made a decision and now he needs to fufill his part of the contract. I was 18 when i went into the US Army and served 10 years. Even if my mother got sick with Cancer, they would not move me to a post closer to her unless she was my dependent. I would have to deal with my voluntary commitment to our country and adapt and overcome the problem. It helped me grow up and handle adversity. Crying wolf and running home to momma wasn't an option. Integrity, character, discipline and your word are critical in becoming a man. I understand his delima, my grandmother had alzheimers and passed away before I got back from my duty station. I love and miss her, but I had an obligation to serve.

Hart needs to come out and lay this one on Dooley. As I stated in another thread, this is not a decision based on a long standing school policy as evidenced by Kevin Ware's unconditional release. Dooley won't be here much longer and the program needs a clean slate when he's gone. I say don't let him hide behind some recently made-up policy that makes the entire AD look bad.

It would appear that there is more to this than meets the eye. There are troubling indicators that Arnett's motivation may be something other than wanting to be closer to his father.

With that in mind, I'll hold off on joining the Dooley Dogpile until the facts are laid bare for all to see.

Go Vols.

I think you nailed it. Baggett likely has communicated with Arnett, that he is headed there next and wants to bring him along. After all the Bowl games, watch and see if Baggett doesn't suddenly come out of retirement and onto the staff at meat-chicken state.

I couldn't agree with this more, just let the kid go
