Absolutely! lets build a time machine.

I was referring to preventative measures.

Ok. Drugs and alcohol are bad because people abuse them and then drive and do harm to to others. Ban those substances. People text while driving all the time. Let's ban cell phones. People get behind the wheel when they are tired allllll the time. Fall asleep at the wheel and kill someone. Make mandatory bedtimes for all drivers. Soccer moms drive distracted all the time because they've got 8 little sh1t heads in the back screaming at each other. Ban soccer van pooling. What have I missed?

The point is: there is no shortage of potentially harmful things that could be banned to protect people from themselves and others. The question is: do we value security at the cost of liberty?

I've been drunk, and I've used several drugs.

It's all scare tactics. I wish you could see past that and think for yourself.

"Drugs made me do it" is just an excuse for being a ****ty person. Drugs don't make you do anything. No matter how drunk or high I've been, I've never sought to harm another person.

I am not trying to necessarily get involved in this argument bc im not sure which side I agree with but doing hard drugs does and can change a person. Im glad it didn't u but I have seen several that it has.

so you don't think anything should be banned or against the law?

No it doesn't. You're still the same person. No one intentionally harms another person because of drugs.

That's not even close to being true....Drugs are mood and personality changing and affect everyone differently....I work in and around the medical field and even legal drugs can have harmful side effects on certain individuals.

Personality? What drugs change your personality and how?

Let's also get rid of speed limits. My one hour commute I could cut in half. The heck with my kids in the back seat I dont want my civil rights affected.

You speeding has a direct effect on others safety. That's where you draw the line.

But my freedoms should extend as far as possible without harming others. Me doing drugs harms no one.

Don't argue with the expert. He's been on prescription oxycodone and didn't do jack to him.

But I proved to you an abusing mom harms her baby. What gives?

I know you're joking, but speed limits do a lot less for safety than they do for revenue. People that want to speed will speed. People that value safety will drive safely. You don't need an arbitrary sign on a post to tell you what is safe.

Speeding always puts others in danger. You've proven in 1 circumstance that applies to maybe 10% of the population, it would harm someone else.
But so does alcohol, sugar, caffeine, and nicotine. All of which are legal.

You can't legislation pregnancy. We hope women take care of themselves when pregnant, but it shouldn't be a crime.

Unless you want to go to mandatory bed rest (don't wanna a pregnant lady to fall), and dieticians making all meals for pregnant women so we can ensure maximum health for the newborn.

Bahahahahaha!!!!!

This is a really immature and idiotic response to a legitimate point.

But, given how you have been constructing your argument on the subject, it's not surprising. It's sad that someone adopts such a liberal philosophy when it comes to government controlling our lives.
