You know the media. They love bad cop stories.

There are a lot more restrictions on private armed security as opposed to LE so that could be a difference.

If there is race involved, yeah. If not, not really. Kelly Thomas should have been one of the biggest news stories of the last few years, by our doom and gloom media, but most people don't even know who he is.

Dumbasses who work private security don't kill people very often. Let alone innocent people.

Really? Thats a pretty stupid statement. Comparing a One Direction concert with a Barricaded subject SWAT call out are exactly the same. Ok.

Uh. Trayvon Martin case?

Of course they aren't, the security guards don't shoot people, ****heads like your boys who think they're SAS commandos do, regardless of innocence.

There is a lot more to private security than concerts.

If SWAT operations were the norm, you might have a point. Dealing with wasted people at a concert can get hairy.

If you swung on a private security guard at a concert you might get beat up a bit, definitely roughed up to some degree, and escorted out.

Same concert, but police officers are the security...what happens when you swing on the officer? I would say it's been nice knowing you.

I happen to work in that area at current. And you'd be surprised at how many off duty cops do that kind of work.

So you point isn't really a good one.

The question would be where do you stand on the issue?

I would think a few minutes of gathering intelligence and as good a sitrep as possible before kicking in a door and gunning someone down would be prudent, and easily would've diffused the hypothetical "situation" before anything occured.

But that's just me, an ignorant member of the proletariat, not an omniscient badge wearing overlord.

Predictable juvenile retort, but I was actually referring to the initial caller...

Misunderstood the question, I don't see it as anything other than filing a false report, all the negative ends of the "situation" were as a result of an overzealous LE entity. I suppose that whatever the local stance on that is, and restitution for police time and property/physical damage would suffice

And blow the juvenile crap out your 5 hole

They're off duty....so working as private security. Different set of rules.

If you say so. The difference-maker to me is the rules they play by.

So you're saying cops only turn on their hard core, boot in the neck, power trip emotions that only want to shoot someone when they put on a badge?

And when it comes off, they are...normal folks?

I'm saying that if anyone is authorized to taze someone....then they'll be more likely to actually taze someone. Do you disagree?

Do you mean that if the use of force continuum has been utilized and the conditions for the application of less than lethal force is justified would someone use a taser?

I mean that if it's your job to handle a situation without a taser, then you'll do so without a taser. If it's your job to do it with a taser, you'll do so with a taser. Make sense?

A taser, by definition, is a pain compliance device. A less than lethal method of bringing a subject from an active resistance level or even a assault to a compliant level. And typically a very effective tool.

So yes, if the job requires the application of a taser, a taser will be used. And truth be told, it's generally a lot safer to use than a baton or even OC as the after effects aren't nearly as bad. But the ultimate goal is compliance in any situation requiring the use of force.

What if it's kinda borderline but the battery needs cycled?
