Forgot all about him.. Met him several times he has always treated me like I was someone important meaning when we talked he listened. I remember sitting on the train from Chicago to ND game. I was sitting with a donor who had invited me along Mr Currie listen and talked to me with concerns etc... I remember setting in the stands at one of the basketball games he came by and remembered me and came back by and ask if I wanted to sit on the floor as there was 2 empty seats. I just think he is real!!!! Good Luck I am pulling for you Mr. Currie.... Not that makes a good AD but he treated a nobody like something.

He was at one point in the Knoxville "40 under 40" list.

He got his Master’s of Science degree in sports management from the University of Tennessee in 2003.

Was here during the "National Championship Era".

Was the AD of a Power 5 Program.

He got K-State's Athletic department donations in the top 10 in the nation.

He has ties to Tennessee.

He was the 2013 Under Armour Athletic Directors of the Year.

He helped upgrade all the facilities at K-State and put them in an Amazing position facilities wise.

I just don't understand how someone logically can be upset with this hire over Blackburn or Fulmer.

He has the better resume, more Power 5 experience, and has a proven track record.

This doesn't seem like a "cheap" hire.

How could anybody be upset I don't understand???

Because people that have zero knowledge of the true duties of an AD and had nothing to do with interviewing any candidates had already made up their mind as to who would be best in a position they know nothing about.

Heard that. The scary thing with Currie and Blackburn, they both were in on the Kiffin hire.

At the time, it may've been the best hire we ever made. Kiffin committed career suicide at UT.

His recruiting ability was unreal. His Offensive mind is still unmatched.

He's also the biggest P.O.S. in the NCAA.

He's like that really hot girl who also could have a ton of STDs because shes a big ole hole.

He's got all the juice, but the problem is his juice is loose.

No doubt giving him a chance. I wanted Blackburn, but he has a good resume and no doubt has done well at KSU overall. I think he has a chance to do well, hopefully very well. He is a UT grad also and that doesn't hurt anything. LOL! GBO!!!!

I'd like to review the videotape before commenting on whether Fulmer got screwed or not.

I am sure if you want to discuss it with him, he will let you buy him dinner at Shoney's. Fulmer getting screwed? Ha! Only chance of that is to give him directions to Nevada.

Was he at Kansas State when Leticia Romero was being held hostage and they refused to grant her a release? If so, it speaks volumes about his attitude towards female basketball players. He might be a good choice for the football or men's basketball programs, but if you are a female student athlete, I'm not sure he is a welcome addition to the university.

he was

Women's college basketball - Kansas State Wildcats' decisions to blame for messy situation

I did think he was a good hire, not so much now,if all that happened under his watch at KS,that is just sad,I'm one to think.if they did it once, they will do it again

I was also wanting Blackburn/Fulmer...
But you have to look at the search committee with Peyton, Thorton and others that we as fans respect, so I believe Currie also with Tennessee ties will do just fine...

The former Kansas State AD and the new AD at the University of Tennessee.

He spent nearly a decade in Knoxville in the Athletic Department, rising to the Assistant AD slot under Mike Hamilton.

being hamilton's boy, that's scary in it's self.

swain event has some pretty disturbing facts about this guy and his relationship with coaches.

I'd be interested to see where he has K-State athletics as a whole ranked on that thing that ranks each sport in every college and makes a combined grade for every school.

I just see him as the more qualified than all the other people I've heard suggested.. Including Blackburn.
so you admit you dont even know where he ranks on that 'thingy' (learfield director's cup)...YET you see him as more "qualified" than other candidates?...thats full sheep mode

Very true.

But many of the rest of us were on board with it too. Remember some of the comments...Kiffin can't be that bad, Al Davis is hard to work for, Davis is senile, Kiffin was a great recruiter at SC, Kiffin brings an energy to the program, Kiffin has fired up booster clubs with remarks about Florida, etc.

Fact is, we all got fooled by Kiffin. The difference is that Currie went on to K State and Blackburn to UTC, both learned from their mistakes, and both have proven themselves to be good ADs. Hamilton just made more and more mistakes.

Yep. It is a huge piece of revisionist history that Kiffin was somehow hated or suspiciously viewed when he was fired hired.

I will admit - he fooled me once. I was on board the "Lane Train." I didn't think he'd be at Tennessee long term (e.g., 10+ years), but I did think he'd stick around for 5 years or so and if he didn't get the program back to an elite level he'd bounce to another school and try and do it there.
