If you accept this (or any) ESPN writer's spin on the situation.
I don't. :)

He was at one point in the Knoxville "40 under 40" list.

He got his Master’s of Science degree in sports management from the University of Tennessee in 2003.

Was here during the "National Championship Era".

Was the AD of a Power 5 Program.

He got K-State's Athletic department donations in the top 10 in the nation.

He has ties to Tennessee.

He was the 2013 Under Armour Athletic Directors of the Year.

He helped upgrade all the facilities at K-State and put them in an Amazing position facilities wise.

I just don't understand how someone logically can be upset with this hire over Blackburn or Fulmer.

He has the better resume, more Power 5 experience, and has a proven track record.

This doesn't seem like a "cheap" hire.

How could anybody be upset I don't understand???

Basically the only thing he was hired for is his ability to get money. We don't need upgraded facilities and he also never helped improve K-States athletics in anyway, especially in football or basketball, the 2 major college sports.

We didn't need someone to come here and raise money and build up our facilities. We needed someone with a proven track record of identifying good coaches and getting them to come coach your school. Blackburn made his athletics better with less resources than Currie did while Currie just maintained mediocrity at K-State and had little to nothing to do with our "championship era". In fact the coach responisble for that era tossed his name in the race for the purpose of preventing what eneded up happening cause apparently he knows Currie won't make us any better, just the admin richer.
