confidence. And, if you look into it, I think that it explains this class and how bright Tennessee's future is looking.

JONES: Our entire staff is in its third experience of taking over a program. We really stuck to our recruiting profile this year.

Reading through everything that I could find today, several times I came across the statement that Coach and staff didn't completely fill last year's class because they didn't fit the recruiting profile. I think that this staff is well aware of what it takes to take over and build a program.

Fellow Vols...I think the future is getting brighter everyday on Rocky Top!

No doubt they have a plan and a system. Kiffin had a plan. Dooley had a plan. Fulmer definitely had a system.

I am neither pessimistic nor optimistic. Even if they have a sound plan and great system... that does not assure success. It is never that easy.

It's certainly working in one major aspect.

I think the other important part will come soon.

I agree, but basing on past performance, Butch has been successful implementing and executing his plan at his previous stops. While I agree that alone does not ensure success here, it is an indicator of probability of success that Kiffin and Dooley did not bring to the table.

I was at the luncheon today. Random thoughts:

-thinking about calling the wall behind the fg the Medley Wall because in camp he was kicking kickoffs and hitting it. Butch told Medley he'd name it that if he signed and continued to hit it. Bajak joked that he is just going to get to the 40 and go for fg's.
-Berry's will start out on D
-EE's have elevated the talent on the practice field.
-Creamer is eating his way to a TE
-ut sports had 400k hits on recruiting day
-more top ranked players on d (8), than we had in the previous 6 yrs (6)
-every coach mentioned the glaring lack of speed they noticed from day 1 and that our team and individual speed was a necessity, which basically is a mirror of the above stat.
-this class will help build the next couple of classes with their own recruiting and is the tightest group he has ever been around. Thinks that will pay huge dividends of course as the team grows.

Coach is for sure getting the Jimmy and Joe's...... I hope he can do as well if not better with the X's and O's

It is never easy to rebuild or into walk into an organization that is totally lost and without direction and have an immediate impact. We were lost under Dooley and Kiffin, they were like throw it out there and see what we got.

There is a purpose in everything that CBJ and this staff does. The same standards apply not only to the recruits but the staff as well. That are definitely A+ type personalities.

The slogans "Rise to the Top" and "Brick by Brick" apply to the coaches and staff.

Team numbers bring the history of each team and gives each team it own unique identity contributing to the success of the program.

Foundation of Tennessee Football include former Coaches and players along with Neyland. Let's not forget the Maxims.

Facilities and Family are too other aspects that are assets to use.

Character, self discipline, and education (academics) are "no brainers" to play here.

With these simple processes in play we are winning before we are winning on the field.

What are other keys to success that Butch has to master to become successful and how is he doing? Can we put a grade on them or say they are To Be Determined?

1. Recruiting
2. Player development
3. Practice planning and performance
4. Game planning
5. Game day coaching
6. Academic performance
7. Player retention and roster management
8. Fan base and donor relations

I would say he has done great in numbers 1,3,6 and 8. The other factors are probably too early to be determined. I would say that number 2 is showing good progress based on the S&C program and overall attitudes of the players. 4 and 5 are hard to judge at this early point because of the roster he had to field last year.

Agree with comments

1. Recruiting --- Recruited well to our needs. Excellent.

2. Player development --- 14 EE a plus, time driven and S&C solid. Had player confidence up last year and had them believing. Competition in practices.

3. Practice planning and performance. Never lost for words on the practice field.

4. Game planning --- GA and USCe games were solid and adjustments at half were commendable.

5. Game day coaching --- Same as above

6. Academic performance --- APR score.

7. Player retention and roster management --- Too early to tell but we will know by end of next season.

8. Fan base and donor relations --- Our fan base and donors have been hesitant based on the last three hires. CBJ is doing all that he can to mend the fences but it also requires the AD to mend some relationships things across the board.

I was saying that winning the recruiting battles eventually leads to winning games.

They did an amazing job recruiting and I think Butch is a good coach, so I think the wins are on the way.
