To heck with Ohio State, 2024 was a good year!

This may be the best time in history to be a Tennessee fan. We made the CFP giving us a chance at the championship. We won the 2024 baseball world championship. We are #1 in basketball in the country. Lady Vols are also undefeated. There's not a better program

Interesting peek at the roster: Esther Adeshina, Bracknell, Great Britain; Lauren Anzalotta, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Catherine Aulia, Rosebery, Australia; Leyla Britez Risso, Asunción, Paraguay; Sofia Cabezas, Valencia, Venezuela; Eleonora Molinaro, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg; Elza Tomase, Liepaja, Latvia; Alana Wolfberg, sunny Orlando.

The men played, too. Johannus Monday was SEC player of the year for the second time. He went 28-3 in No. 1 singles. Monday is from Kingston upon Hull, a port city in the East Riding of Yorkshire, in jolly old England. Nobody else would provide you such information. Yes Mr. West. Vols are definitely International!!

With that attitude, it's the best year you can expect. Why post a picture of an SEC Championship for the baseball team to drive home how good of a year it was for the football team?

So here's the unpleasant truth of playoffs: all but one go home disappointed.

Any year prior to 2014, you pick the best 12 teams in the country, and 6 of them are going to end the season with a big bowl win. Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton, Peach, half those teams are going to win in a major bowl. At least one, but often two or even three of them, are going to make a decent case for being considered the national champ.

Starting this year, 11 of those 12 teams leave the season on the bitter taste of a loss. None can claim to be a national champ, they're all losers.

Before this season, in the 4-team playoff, only 3 teams forcibly ended the year as losers. Out of the 12 best teams, 5 ended the year winning. That wasn't so bad.

This year, it's down to 1 of 12. Eleven losers, one winner.

Are we sure an expanded playoff is really what we want? Absolutely positive?

Go Vols!

"Fallout from the football playoff loss at Ohio State was 98.7 percent negative. There was one positive. Nico survived two cracked helmets.

The setback was a strange ending to what I thought was a very good 2024 for Tennessee athletics. The Vols won another Southeastern Conference all-sports trophy. The university used big words like “extraordinary” and descriptive terms like “success across all 20 sports.
” Marvin West.
IN Retrospect, I think we all knew Ohio State was the better team, we just looked at their game with Michigan and gained some false hope, when in fact, that loss just assured an all out effort from the Buckeyes. The Vols have to improve, but just making the first CFP was an accomplishment. So it's something positive to end 2024 on. Go Vols!

I'm sorry that some of yall didn't get the positive effect that Mr. West was trying to project. Apologies..
No need to apologize to the negavols. While I do agree the blowout loss to Ohio State was a huge disappointment we can't loose sight of the big picture. If we are all being honest I don't think many of us expected our Vols to be 10-2 at the end of the regular season.

I was telling my kids after the game that it's pretty pointless in being a fan of a team if you can't take the good with the bad and actually enjoy cheering for your team (even in blowout losses). I love being able to root for our Vols almost 12 months out of the year whether it's baseball, softball, football or basketball and they are all consistently in the top 15, top 10 and even #1. It's been a long long time since we have won at this level (all sports) and I'm loving it!! GBO

If we are all being honest, no one expected our schedule to be so easy. We have had schedules in the past that this team would have gone 6-6 against.

This was the worst 10 win team we have ever had.

Your username explains it all. I choose not to be miserable and it's a choice your should seriously consider.

After the whipping they put on #1 Oregon, I don’t feel quite as bad as I did against OSU. They have a lot of talent and should win it all.

I was listening to Todd McShay's pod this week and he gave a really great explanation as to why tOSU became a juggernaut. He said that in the playoff:

- They fixed their line problems by switching from their complicated scheme to a simplified one (the assignments were really easy, either you blocked down, or you hit a LB), and it worked.
- They moved Jeremiah Smith to the slot a lot, and frequently put him on the same side as Egbukah (or whatever his name is).
- they NEVER ran counter during the regular season, and they ran it on like 45% of run plays in the playoff.

We were the first team who had to deal with all that, at their place, in the freezing cold, with our injuries, and they smoked us.

Everybody else saw what they did to us, played them in good conditions at a neutral field, and still got smoked.

Oh please. If someone made the statement in a different year that “our schedule was reallly tough, this is the best 7-5 team we’ve ever had,” you and the other negas would jump down their throat. Moral losses don’t count any more than moral victories do.

😂😂🤡🤡🤡. This will easily qualify in the category of Dumbest Post of the Year in the annual Vol Nation Awards. Do you think that anybody is going to care? When you look at the record book, all you’ll see is 10-3 and a playoff berth. At the end of the day, nobody cares how you got there. They only want to know the result.

You are close to replacing Cavput as the saddest sack on the site. (Sorry Cav.)

I would argue late 1990s were still better because we had National Titles in a 1-2 year period in both Women's Basketball and Football.

We are getting close to that though.
