I am not worried about Bray. So he had an off day. He also had the weaker O line and WR group, the only thing he had gong for him was Poole. I think he will be fine or at least I hope he will be.

he'll be fine in the long run. like i said, you can't take much away from these but 5-30 is never a good thing. the teams were so mixed up today that you can't really tell how the offense and defense will be when they're set at their optimal lineups.

I expect him to struggle against the really good defenses he'll face, but I think he'll be a damn good qb before his career is over.

He had the best and third best WR's on the team plus the starting TE and the 1st string RB. I'm not gonna get worried yet but that's not an excuse for him.

Agreed. Chaney will sit down with him after this performance and get him through this.

The TV announcers made the same comments about him playing with the weaker group and the recievers dropping many of his passes. I dont care what happens in these games, Bray is still clearly the more talent of the QB's at UT. He will be just fine once he starts to get reps with all the 1st team guys.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Vincent Dallas is the third best WR on the team and Hunter was double teamed all day. WR's have to get open just like the QB has to make good choices with the ball. Both things didnt happen, but Both things can be fixed with hard work. Also it doesnt matter who you have to throw to if the O line isnt protecting and they werent, so he really didn't have time to make good things happen.

I am not sure it was a bad idea to break up the 1st team for the spring game. I think it will help the team understand, especially the guys that get so much attention, that its not just one or two players that carry the load in success.

Sorry I was thinking he had Milton dropping balls for him.

And I agree he was on the run often. He also opted to throw long 2/3 throws. I don't know if it was because it was a scrimmage or if that's the way the offense is going to be run but most of the passes were in very tough situations for the WR. Hopefully he can learn to throw some passes that give his receivers a better chance.

But.... But.... Tyler Wilson just threw his 3rd TD pass in the first quarter in the Arkansas spring game.

Well, who else are we supposed to anoint? He played great at the end of the season last year. He's going to be a year older and another year in the system, the expectations were always going to be high.

I stand corrected Heebs I went back and looked at re roster and Milton was on Brays teams. I didn't see him At the end of the third and any of the fourth so my bad. Did see Vincent Dallas sporting number 6 thought. It like a little D Mo out there. He wears the same style helmet and everything.

IMO he didn't struggle because of the Oline or the WR's he just thew the ball poorly. Off target and not a lot of velocity. You can throw the ball in double or triple coverage when you are accurate but he wasn't.

Bray did have some paws in his face several times. He did have an off game but he did some spectacular things in the final games last year. I also think that Worley will be a good one down the road.

Disclaimer # 1. I'm not a football savant.

Disclaimer # 2. I readily admit a good number of folks on this board know more about football than I can ever even presume to think I know.

That being said here's my take on the O & W game as it pertains to our QBs.:

I like Bray. I think he brings a factor into our games in that he is a risk taker and not afraid to keep trying when things go bad. But I think he got about as much protection as Simms did today and pretty much sucked. Too darn pass happy and didn't really use his RB and even I could predict what he was going to do and throw to whom.

I've said it before and basically got HA, HA responses to it, but Simms is a better game manager. Today, he did what I've predicted he will do if and when he is called in to replace Bray. He gave a Bart Starr performance. Nothing gee whiz or even partially exciting. Just called plays that got the game won. Something i think he's fully capable of doing if he has halfway decent protection. Which i think that OL is now ready to provide with a fair degree of consistency. Despite all he's been through, he still has fire in him, though I think he overdoes it when he scores or makes a good play. But then again, he didn't do any throat slashing gestures. I'm saying he a shrewd play caller and if he has decent protection, can win games because of it.

Bray revealed a tendency to depend on his arm too much and when he does this against SEC defenses, they will make him pay for it. However, I also think that a major part of his problem was the performance of the secondary. I think we're going to have a heck of a secondary even when we have to use backups. I think Bray is great but right now too one dimensional. Still, with the full set of receivers, TEs and slot receivers, he will probably get away with it more often than not. I think he should start but if he's being non-productive and the defense is just holding things together, Simms would be the better answer as we'd need a tactician in game like that.

I fully expect folks here to tar and feather me for these comments but that's what I saw in the O & W game. I also know you can't really draw firm conclusions based on such games.

Offhand comments: Goins surprised me and he wasn't always covering "scrubs" as some say here. That Coleman fellow was noticeable too. I really think we're going to surprise some teams this season. I still think we're going to end up with a 10-2 record. And all the signees haven't even arrived yet. Signees who will include players ready to serious push for PT or even displace current starters. We're going to surprise some people big time.

Im not worried about him either. That said, almost everyone on here was saying how the white team was overmatched
