Do you have to be a Colts fan & cheer for Peyton Manning?

I've been told by numerous people that claim to be die-hard Vol fans that I'm not a true Tennessee fan because I'm not a Colts fan & cheer for Peyton. I always reply with, " So does that mean your a Eagles, Jets, Cowboys, Chiefs, Broncos, ect. fan to, since all those teams have former Vols on them? "

I like the Colts bc my 2nd fav NFL team is whoever plays the Patriots. Pulling for Colts has little to do with vol connection for me.

That's just dumb. There are former Vols all over the NFL.

My father and I have had this conversation on multiple occasions. The love for the NFL is not the same as it is for college. Don't get me wrong, I've held PSL's since the day the Titans arrived to Nashville, but the true passion for them doesn't come close to what it is for the Big Orange. It's nice to go to an NFL game and relax and enjoy the game, because it isn't life or death like it is for the Vols.

That being said, I always want Manning to do well, always. When the Colts are playing the Titans, I'm pulling for the Titans, but I want them to beat the Colts with Manning at his best and earn the win against everything he stands for and the amazing talent he is.

I also realize Vols fans are all over the country, and many were specific NFL-team fans before Manning went to the NFL, so of course they don't have to become Colts fans. Root for your hometown team, or who you grew up watching because of your fathers or grandfathers, or however you became that team's fan.

Long story short, my answer is no.

No. I root for Peyton to do well, but I'm a Cowboys fan and I couldn't have been happier when he was throwing all those picks last week.

I hope peyton does well, until he plays the Titans!! There are so many debates on who are true fans, like... You aren't a true fan if you don't root for both football & basketball, you aren't a true fan if you didn't attend UT, you aren't a true fan if you don't yell like a mad man stand the whole time or stay all four quarters etc.

We all have our own opinions of what a true fan should be some are more enthusiastic than others but at the end of the day we are one BIG ORANGE family!!

You need to change your circle of friends.

I picked the Saints to win the Super Bowl in February and as a Packers fan, I hope to see Charles Woodson tear people up. Does that make me a bad Vol fan?

Oh I'm a Colts fan but I don't think you have to be a Colts fan to be a true Vols fan. I fully admit that I'm only a Colts fan because of Manning but that is mostly because I really don't care about NFL football. I love College sports because I have a tie to the university, I don't have that same feeling with the NFL. Just how I am.

The NFL doesn't have much to do with UT and how you love it so you can be a Vols fan and never watch an NFL game in my opinion
