'26 TN WR Tyreek King (Tennessee commit)

That’s fair but generally speaking draft selections reflect star rating. A lot of 3 stars gets drafted but there’s also around 800-900 of them. High school players are more raw so they won’t all hit obviously, but the rankings are supposed to reflect the draft.

Transfers are a lot more certain as you said, but there’s only so many high impact ones and whatever outlet ranks transfers are hit or miss bc the players aren’t in a vacuum like high school and nobody has the time to watch 1,000 portalers in two weeks

Every 3 star that gets drafted represents a miss on the 4 star that did not. Pretty much enough 4-5 stars in each HS class to close out ALL 3 stars 300 or so. Got no problem celebrating the higher probability of 4 stars, but their misses and 3 star successes make dissing 3 stars on signing day useless. Bigtime programs are NOT blindly throwing darts into the 3 star pool, so stats referencing the whole pool as the denominator are ludicrous. Run the numbers with those that have 3 or more P4 visits and get back to me.

EXACTLY. I get so tired of people talking about what percentage of three stars pan out versus what percentage of four stars pan out, as if they are all being randomly selected. Coaches’ evaluations matter. A lot.

I always take coaches' evals into higher priority. Couldn't tell you who is rated which star exactly on every site for most prospects. Not sure why we are quoting messages from a month or two ago so I don't know the full context of the situation, but generally speaking outside of IOL/TE and maybe like linebacker and running back, most of those three-stars aren't taking several LEGIT P4 visits like being suggested. Rankings for IOL don't really matter ultimately and I'm going to trust good coaches evals over a handful of people for a recruiting site so we are on the same page I feel like.

I will say with all due credit to On3 and 247, every single person in their scouting staff has worked in a major P4 program evaluating players for the coaching staff. They know all the people behind the scenes in the industry still and regularly communicate. Shoot Vandy hired Barton Simmons from 247

From Article on On3:
Tennessee Football commit Tyreek King was one of the biggest standouts at the Rivals Five-Star event in Indianapolis, which consisted of top prospects from the 2026, 2027 and 2028 classes. King, the four-star wide receiver, was ranked No. 6 by On3 on the list of top performers.

Tyreek King made the most big plays we saw from a receiver at Rivals Five-Star,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power wrote. “King was good during 1-on-1s after being a late arrival. He picked things up during 7-on-7.

“The Tennessee pledge was a touchdown waiting to happen throughout the afternoon. King threatened every level of the field with his burst off the line, long speed, and elite change of direction.”

King, who has been committed to Tennessee since October 31, is ranked No. 75 overall in the On3 Ratings. He’s the No. 10 wide receiver in the class and the No. 5 overall player in the state of Tennessee, out of Knoxville’s Catholic High School.

“The Knoxville native has a ton of wiggle within his routes,” Power added. “He showed excellent speed after the catch, taking a crossing route before weaving through the defense for an impressive touchdown. He later got open on a corner route during the final 7-on-7 game, tracking the ball over his shoulder while getting his feet down in bounds.”

I’ve only seen a little bit from this kid. His highlights look impressive. I have a friend who I coached with, who’s kid runs in the same training circles as King. Said King reminded him of a taller Tyrone Prothro. I have no clue if that is a good comparison or not, but I will take a Tyrone Prothro type player ALL DAY.

There’s a name I haven’t thought of in a long time.
