I’ve been in sports as long as I have been alive. Coached as well. There are thousands of 14 year olds that mature faster than everyone else and then fade when others catch up. Hyping a 14 year old kid is crazy to me. I would say probably half of the kids we had that were stars as a 12-13 year old, were either ordinary players or out of the sport by their senior year.
Franklin I’m like a year late to this reply.
But I said exactly what you said haha.
Why did you question what I was saying??
My VERY FIRST SENTENCE was pretty much exactly what you said here.
To be clear some guys looked like supermen as freshman at 14 years old (Devrin Young, Corey Booker, Demetrius Howard, etc)
They didn’t run or were built like any 14 year old.
They had already peaked at 14 years old.
This kid- from a biomechanics standpoint- still had the balance of a 14 year old still growing into his body with glimpses of raw speed and talent. Those other guys were moving at their peak already even tho they were just 14.
Marcus Lattimore will always standnout to me as an example. Byrnes HS played Belle Glade from Florida back when Lattimore was 14 years old.
He got in the game late, and ran for a TD after the game was already in hand. (ESPN aired it)
But Lattimore was already 6’0 and maybe 165 lbs. He was terribly skinny and gangly but still ran with good pad level. 3 years later he was a
5 star RB that everyone was after and was 6’0 215 and was very good. But he still looked very undeveloped at 14 years old.
This kid was similar to that.
