TN will be Transfer Portal City

In my opinion, we gotta have more stamina than anything else. More snaps will mean more injuries. Also, because of our Hurry Up Offense, we don’t sub that much. Our starters will get way more “snaps” on an average offensive position. It’s like basketball, where they won’t sub unless it’s a turnover or timeout. Transfers happen a ton in basketball because the roster spot is limited. Because of this, I’ll predict we will have more transfers leaving/going. Mostly RBs, WR, and QB .

Transfers have always been an a bigger problem than many realize. I'm not sure things will be much different but could see the portal increasing transfer opportunities for players.

From Rivals past positional rankings just consider these years. This is for the quarterbacks they ranked. Combined pro-style and dual threat.

2017 - 50 quarterbacks were ranked. 39 of the 50 did not or will not finish with the school they signed with. TBD on the other 11

2018 - 65 quarterbacks were ranked. 41 of the 65 did not or will not finish with the school they signed with. TBD on the other 24.

2019 - 50 quarterbacks were ranked. 35 of the 50 did not or will not finish with the school they signed with. TBD on the other 15.

2020 - 60 quarterbacks were ranked. 17 of the 65 did not or will not finish with the school they signed with. TBD on the other 43.

Transfers have been happening at a significant rate for a long time.

Give it another year or two to see how many get drafted out of this new system. If there are few, then yeah you might be right. Winning cures everything, including increased opportunities to advance to the league.

Umm you believe our RBs, WRs, and QBs won’t want to play in this offense?

Idk if I’ve ever seen a post that’s more off base. We didn’t play few rbs and wrs because we didn’t want to, we did because we didn’t have guys we believed in.

Anyone worth their salt would rather be in the fight but being in shape can only take you so far in as far as stamina. Try running a marathon each week and then say you enjoy it after a year.

Actually or naturally I was expecting there would be enough depth to scuffle people in and out. I don't expect us to not at some point soon to have at least serviceable depth on both defense and offense. The "short roster surly can't last forever.

We have depth of roster now I mean 70 scholarship players is enough to run people out on the field. We just don't have enough quality depth. It will take a year or two of good recruiting and we will be fine. This won't last forever if the boosters give the coach enough time to build his program. Kids that can play good enough will play I feel under CJH but it still will take the a yr or two to learn his system well.

But, but............giving stuff to athletes is fair and balanced. It's going to make everything better. Right?

PS. Whatever happened to the kids that had a true desire to play for a certain university, not for a coach, not for NIL, etc.?

I think a team can take 7 Max incoming portal if staying under 85 total so I’m not sure if say you lose 10 you can get 10 if staying under 85, still a lot to digest.

Or they'll look at the success they could have within our system

some dudes look at more plays as more opportunities for injury. Coming here makes a skill player 25-33% more likely to have a major injury than going somewhere that doesn’t run tempo every series and where depth is better.
Considering Ole Miss runs a similar offense and Oregon had some of it's best teams under Chip Kelly, and it doesn't/didn't seem to be stopping them from getting/keeping players, I think we'll be fine.

Fortunately, the transfer portal goes both ways.

Have you ever dated a girl that went both ways?
Could you handle it?

about 10 years ago a guy that worked for the same financial service bank as I did, lost his wife of 2 years to one of his previous girlfriends.
H
To say he was crushed, would be an understatement for sure, poor guy, or happy girl, who knows

I think we penalized ourselves by 5 which means we can only take a total of 27. There may be a little room if you can back count a scholarship or 2,

Joe Burrow has won a national championship and Heisman trophy, been the first pick of the NFL draft, completely turned around a franchise, and a game away from being a Superbowl champion.

Had he stayed at OSU, he would've been a backup quarterback with little to no game experience and film.

https://www.sportscasting.com/urban-meyer-lets-slip-why-joe-burrow-never-had-a-chance-at-ohio-state/
It was never a secret that Dwayne Haskins, who is about to start his second season with the Washington Football Team, was the reason Joe Burrow felt he needed to transfer from Ohio State. Spring practice after his redshirt sophomore year made it clear to Burrow that the best he could probably hope for was to split time with Haskins.
What he didn’t know at the time of his decision to leave, however, was that head coach Urban Meyer had already concluded three years earlier that Haskins was unmistakable NFL material. As much as he respected Burrow’s talent, Meyer may have had his line of succession mapped out in his mind before Haskins even graduated from high school.
Appearing on Fox Sports’ The Herd recently with host with Colin Cowherd, Meyer got into a discussion about multi-sport athletes and player recruitment. When Cowherd asked Meyer about the best high school QB he’d ever seen, the answer came easily.
“It was Dwayne Haskins,” the retired coach said. “If you talk about pure ability to throw the football. … When I went to his junior workout right after his junior season, I sat there for two hours and watched this kid throw. He was better than most college quarterbacks that I’ve ever had in my systems or coached.

Portal is fine and fun. Seems we got a few good ones last year. Josh works it well. TN needs it.

The more rules and regulations the more successful cheating that goes on around them. Make the rules few and simple around the portal for the good of everyone. Let garbagemen write the laws/rules rather than lawyers if you want them iron clad.
