According to the VQ recruiting wrap up video, his dad was a student athlete at Tennessee. Sounded like track and field.

We’ve offered him at safety but other schools like him at receiver.

So we're recruiting him as a safety. The coaches told him he needs to work on flipping his hips and backpedaling. He's probably faster than many of our current safeties, but he seems like a faster than quick type of athlete.

Both parents were track All Americans. His dad also played football.
His father, Kevin, earned All-American honors as a decathlete for UT in 2002. His mother, Sharon (Dickie), was named an AA in both T&F (5000 meters) and cross country.

Thompson ran a 10.59 100m last week at the state meet, finishing 7th but setting a new PR.

10.59 got SEVENTH?! Tennessee state track must be having a crazy year because mid 10's usually wins it.

A safety with this kind of speed is something we haven't had since Janzen and if it translates we better sign this kid

Damn he finished 7th in Tennessee with a 10.59???

That used to be good enough to win gold back 20 years ago.

Same thing I said but you beat me to it!!

I remember James Rainer of Alcoa running a 10.6 and winning the State 100 meter.

10.59 would be understandable for 7th if it were in Texas or Florida. But Tennessee? That’s crazy

I was going to say the same thing. 10.59 wins in a LOT of states. To finish 7th with that time is crazy.
