Once Chandler gets to a college weight room and eating program he may very well turn into a LB or even a guy with his hand in the dirt as a speed rusher.

I hope he picks TN, but Clemson’s done a really nice job recruiting him. I won’t be shocked if that‘s his choice.

This board going to make a safety a nose tackle by the end of the year lol

Ben Boulware is his primary for Clemson and he coaches linebackers.
Tom Allen is heavily involved there as well, as the DC and secondary coach. They are willing to let him play either

Putting him at linebacker would be a waste imo. He is good at safety bc he has NFL size, athleticism, ball skills. Putting him to LB just bc 6'2-6'3 is big for college safety takes away his size advantage, prevents him from using ball skills and limits his athleticism by having him get washed out in the A and B gaps

I want to say this in relation to the size projection. Anthony Poindexter plays big safeties.

His top NFL prospects that he developed at PSU were Kevin Winston Jr (6'1.5/215), Jaquan Brisker (6'1.5/200), and Zakee Wheatley (6'3/200). He had a third round safety that was 5'11 but that was an exception to the rule according to what we have seen with the other three and he was over 200 pounds as well.

At UConn, he developed Obi Melifonwu, who was a 6'4/220 safety. Chris Cook at Virginia was 6'2/210 and Ras-I Dowling was 6'1/200.

Of those 7 NFL guys, the average height/weight was 6'1.7 and 207 pounds.

I don't think that is changing at Tennessee. Jaden Butler is committed and is 6-foot-2. Safeties being looked at are Omarii Sanders (6'4), Jarrell Chandler (6'3), Ta'Shawn Poole (6'2), Brandon Leavell (6'2), Robert Geathers III (6'2), Adryan Cole (6'2)

Good news for Joel Wyatt.

@allvolrecruiting

I would like to see him play safety as you say because I want as many big, tough tackling kids as we can get, and I want both him and Kenny Jr in the class.

But you can only have so many guys in the room and you need smaller guys to cover high. Sanders or Geathers— I’d be surprised if those guys spent much time in the safety room at all for any team.

My main point was Jarrell’s projection at LB was not invented on this board.

Kenny played OLB/EDGE all year as a junior. He's far better in pursuit and can hold a lot more weight imo

Aren’t the Edge guys a little bulkier and a little more run stop oriented under Knowles?

Kenny might end up at Will, Mike is also a possibility. Edge I see less so but still possible based on frame and genes.

Simon is going to be a linebacker in college, yes. I'm just saying he has already moved off safety. He's not this safety/linebacker hybrid people were saying he would be anymore

Miami was in and visited with Chandler for a couple of hours earlier today.

He remains a wanted commodity.

Anthony Poindexter was by to see Jarrell Chandler on Thursday. Halls is going through spring practice right now. Chandler has continued to see interest grow from teams like Miami, Georgia and others. Clemson still feels like Tennessee’s biggest competition here. At one point, it felt like things were trending the other direction, but as of now it feels like Tennessee still has a really good chance to land the Knoxville product.
