Are there really that many bad snaps from longsnappers that one can be considered the absolute best out of high school and worthy of a scholarship? Would be nice if we could just use PWOs and give them a scholarship as they head into year 2 and avoid using an IC/signee spot on one.

Only 4 LSs rated by 247 and Albright is #3???? WTF??

Also, the state of TN has 2 of those 4. #LSU

Also, none of the other 3 are at this Rubio camp thing fwiw. Dammit Rubio!

We’ve wrapped this movie before. Big programs sign em for a reason. Get over it or don’t. 😴

Selection bias. They guys you see take the field on Saturdays and Sundays (and the guys that are in the running for top spot at these camps) are all good, so you will rarely see bad snaps from them. There are thousands of bad long snappers at the high school level, but you never see or hear about them.

And recruiting sites don't even pretend to care about specialists. 247's rankings shouldn't be of concern.

Yeah. We signed one in Lovingood who hasn’t even started on both kicks and punts the last 3 years. He’s split those duties with Medford (a walk on). We wasted a scholarship/initial counter on a guy who wasn’t even the full time long snapper.

I get that programs do it. Dumb trends happen. This is one of them. Plenty of programs roll with walk ons and they’re not experiencing long snap disasters. It’s just not worth wasting an initial counter against the 25 limit on. If they earn a scholarship after walking on, great.

Trends...plenty. Compelling argument. I’ll go with Pruitt knows football better than either of us and he placed an importance on the pick-up. You roll with an example from our former HC.

Saban signs one every couple years.

Lovingood's dad had ties to the University. Other than long snapping, he was not impressive by any means in high school.

And has Alabama’s long snapping blown away the long snapping of the schools that just use walk ons?

When Tennessee’s other 84 scholarships are being filled by more draft picks than any school in America, as Alabama’s are, maybe then we can waste the 85th on a long snapper.

Given that we are nowhere near filling our class yet, it doesn't seem like a big issue, but maybe you should give Pruitt a shout.
