It sure is looking like TN will be the 12th or 13th seed and probably play Bruce Pearl and Auburn in the Wednesday night game. Auburn is 5-11 and currently the 13th seed. Missouri would be the 14th seed, but they've self imposed a post season ban (and #11 will gain a Wednesday night bye). TN and Miss State are tied for the 11/12 seeds and TN has the head to head tie breaker. However TN is almost certain to lose at Vandy while Miss State has @ Ole Miss and then Auburn at home remaining. TN closes out with Ole Miss at the TBA on Saturday (noon tip).

The winner of 12/13 will face (I think) the 5 seed (LSU?) on Thursday. Top 4 get a double bye so #5 should have the winner of #12/13. #11 should get #6 which will probably be the best finish between FL, GA, Bama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. They are all 8-8. USCe, Vandy, and LSU have a 2 game lead over those 5 with 2 left (10-6).

TN absolutely will have to win at Vandy Tuesday night in order to have a chance to get the season record to .500. Will have to win out and go 2-1 in the SECT to do that.

TN could actually get a decent draw in the SECT and avoid a matchup with #1... but #2, 3, or 4 could end up as a more difficult matchup anyway. I kind of hope that KY ends up as #1 or #4 if TN is in the 12/13 game.

Potential TN draw (TN beat 4 of those and blew a win over the 5th):
Auburn
LSU
Florida
KY
TX A&M

Current standings:

11-5 TX A&M
11-5 KY
============
10-6 USCe
10-6 Vandy
10-6 LSU
============
8-8 FL
8-8 GA
8-8 Arkansas
8-8 Bama
8-8 Ole Miss
============
6-10 Tennessee
6-10 Miss State
============
5-10 Auburn
3-13 Missouri

I'm pretty sure we'll be playing that first night. No way we're beating Vandy and if no Punter I doubt we beat Ole Miss.

Then we might beat Auburn. That's about it. Unless Hubbs pulls his head out of his behind and decides he wants to play.

I miss the days of wondering what seed we're gonna get, now we just wonder what bad thing is gonna happen next.

Only 1 game the first day of the tourney

We should be safe from playing in that game

Ole Miss will need to beat Miss State and lose the TN. Or Auburn has to beat Miss State. Or TN has to beat Vandy. The 11 seed is up for grabs between TN and Miss State. Auburn good even win out and grab it. I think that TN will benefit by playing in the opening night game.

Not sure I follow

We might lose both games this week and still not play the first night

It would not be surprising to see MS State win their next two and move up in the seeding.

TN is tied with Miss State but TN has the tie breaker due to the TN win in Starksville. As long as TN keeps pace, they're seeded ahead of Miss State... whether both go 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2. BUT if Auburn were to catch TN, I do not know which (TN or Auburn) gets the tie breaker since they split. Maybe the next tie breaker is the conference records of all opponents??? But if that... do the teams played twice get extra weighting? I think mathematically they must have extra weighting... otherwise the records of the "common opponents" would be identical. Maybe the RPI comes in to play.

Miss State has a better chance of winning at Ole Miss and beating Auburn in Starkville than TN has of winning at Vandy and beating Ole Miss in Knoxville. TN really needs Ole Miss to beat Miss State in Oxford and then lose to TN in Knoxville in order for TN to get the #11 seed and the opening night bye. I don't think that TN playing in that Wednesday night game as the 12 or 13 seed is such a bad scenario though. On Thursday #11 plays #6 and the 12/13 winner plays #5.

Unfortunately, if Punter can't go on Tues and Sat. then we will be playing the first night. I wish we could win the next two, very unlikely. I would love for us to upset Vandy and salvage a little respectability for this season.

I'm done with college basketball thus year. Not worth getting upset about such awful luck and poor talent

I'm liking the way this year's NCAAT is shaping up as much as any when TN hasn't been included.

Virginia/Darius Thompson as potential #1 seed.

California/Cuonzo getting in.

Florida/Alabama/VCU/Butler/Gonzaga on the bubble.

Monmouth, Stony Brook, Belmont, Valparaiso, Chattanooga possibly making the field.

Iowa State/Purdue/West Virginia/Xavier potentially disrupting things for the blue blood royalty society of basketball.

What will Texas and Shaka do with a lot of CRB's former players?

Can Indiana make at run at getting back to glory day form?
