Never neglect an entire position in a HS class, right Derek Dooley?

Staff wants to save money to retain the small army of DL we took in 2026 class. We might circle back at the position and fill it late like last year.

It’s true. Signed 10 true freshmen on the d line, and 3 transfers (Coleman included) that all have a year or more of eligibility remaining after the 2026 season. That’s not counting that Hobbs is the only player on the team from last year who is out of eligibility after the 2026 season

Every less than great coach is guilty of this. Butch jones unwillingness to stack the offensive line was a big contributor to his downfall when the S&C program left us with a half injured roster.

Mizzou, I guess? Has the elite offers. I wish we would’ve made an earnest run at him.

I think Bama would take him, not sure if he sees a quicker path to PT at Mizzou.

we're gonna need elite pass rushers, hope they find someone they really covet

That was last year. This year, we’re taking a much smaller class. And DLine isn’t a need since we took 7 in the last class. But the main thing is, we’re going heavy on portal and retention. We may not hit 20 high school recruits. The ones we sign will either be elite recruits (DGG) or guys we value for the price.

We’re just not spending money on high school recruits this year.

I think we will sign at least one guy like this, an edge guy who could prob play DE with a little weight.

chandler is right that we will prob do it late when we have a better idea of which DL are staying and going next year.
