'20 TN DE/LB Tyler Baron (UT SIGNEE)

If he loses to Bama and UGA and finishes the regular season at 8-4, another year below preseason expectations, the outcry on the Plains will be intense again. And massive buyouts won't continue to save him from 8-4 seasons.
Agree, if he loses to Ga and Bama which I think he does, he's probably gone. Can't believe I'm saying this but I hope Ga beats them, really have a distaste for Auburn right now..

Seems like Rocker can coach but can't recruit from what I am hearing. I would rather have outstanding coaching building players up than someone better at bringing in talent but can't coach. Keep him and put another recruiter with him to help I say

How many games will it take him to get our DEs to line up on the correct side of the field next year?

Edit - Not a shot at you. I think we're just glossing over the fact that Rocker is a very mediocre coach.

Probably right but fans will be wanting him gone and FSU showed large amounts of money can be raised if motivated..

FWIW...that is "pledged" money. Not in hand yet. FSU might have put the cart before the horse.

I think I've reached my zen-like state about all of this.

The ones that want to be here, will. This staff has proven it can train a sub-par roster to play SEC ball. Wins will come, team swagger will return, UT will be viewed as a competent football school again, and that's when the kids that are harder sells will start biting. It ALL hinges on what happens on the field, and that's the one spot where gains are becoming more and more obvious. Recruiting misses aside, the program's trajectory is going where it should. Its obvious from the buy-in from the dynamic younger guys. That'll happen more as time goes on and wins pile up. I'm going to try to invest less on the individual decisions these kids make, and focus more on the fact that CJP's vision for the team-at-large is starting to take shape, and that will eventually take care of the rest of this. Brighter days ahead, y'all.

But he won't forever without better results. I''m not saying he definitely gets fired, but I could see the scenario happening, depending on the outcome of a couple specific games.

Nope. Don't see it. He has a freshman qb, they know that and in actuality, his buy out is insane and who are they going to go get that could do better?

Bingo. Not worrying about "in state misses" is key. Worry about development right now, that is where a rebuild stakes its claim.

Barely survived last year.

Paying millions to fire a coach for losing 4 games to teams who were all in the top ten, with a freshman QB is ludicrous. They are looking at next year as their year with Tua, and Burrow gone and Florida off the schedule. Unless something crazy happens like Stoops coming out of retirement or Pete Carroll wanting to come back to college they are giving him next year.

So Baron to KY or am I in the wrong thread?
IMHP, Baron to KY is likely. He wants to go to OSUe, but he's not a take there right now. Like Reggie Grimes, see Gamecock message boards they are Very confident about Grimes, wants a committable offer from AL. That's also not a reality right now. Baron holds us as his #3 choice.
BTW, my opinion, and that's all it is, comes from scouring UK and OSUe message boards and recruiting articles. The chat and articles talk about Baron as a Kentucky vs OSUe battle with us hardly being mentioned as a competitor for him. I posted on here about a month ago that I did not think Baron would be a Vol, and I think that more than ever now.
It appears that both Baron and Grimes hold us as their third choices right now. I hope we get them both, maybe we will, but it's getting harder to believe that. Seeing Ojulari then Hardy spurn us is a bad trend that looks like it just might continue. There's a reason. The stench of those first two losses is following us like a toxic cloud.
Either way, like CJP said, " just worry about the ones that come here."
However, LOL, we on this board reserve the right to worry about everything.
