Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

To me that was Greg Mc Elroy trying to make Bama relevant. Never was a thing. Rumor almost over shadowed media day for everyone else.
You think?!? That's exactly why they did it.

They've always been a jealous bunch of narcissistic morons, but this past run has made them extra annoying. Alabama needs a few losing seasons and go through 2-3 more coaching changes to be brought back to earth. Losing to vandy, oklahoma, and TENNESSEE was a good start to the Deboer era. A sub 500 season would've really push them over the edge. That's what I'm hoping for.

This feels like that 1 time, on the 1st day of SEC media days, that Greg McElroy tweeted that he heard from someone in the know, that Nick Saban was wanting to coach again, and then, 4 days later, on the last day of SEC media days, Nick's daughter cleared up the rumor and said "my daddy is not coming back to coaching". 🫤

Literally, the day after we find out the VOLS have a high enough blue chip ratio to win a national championship, a negative story about 1 of our best players comes out. It's like clockwork. Probably a jealous Gump trying to get even over us playing Dixieland Delight after beating their butts 2 of the past 3 seasons.

YOU CAN'T TRUST THE MEDIA

And

YOU DON'T HATE THE GUMPS ENOUGH

That article is insane. The person who is quoted didn't even predict what the title of the article says 😂

I would rather read something AI generated than this BS attempt at journalism. Dude is clearly chasing clicks with a title that is completely fabricated. Yeah of course Florida would want to replace Napier with Saban, but there is no shred of evidence to suggest that it will happen. Printing an article with the title:

Florida football predicted to part ways with Billy Napier for legendary 6-time Alabama champion

is absolutely ridiculous.
Yahoo must be desperate. First they hire Pat Forde. Then they let some kid on his moms couch repurpose a quoted rumor from a podcaster (another man on his moms couch - but with nice equipment), for a puff piece article with a “record setting 6 foot bass *almost* caught” esque title.

Football season can’t come soon enough.

My mom was looking through some of my grandpa’s old stuff and found some of these old tickets from when he had season tickets. Pretty cool because he was there at the Tennessee/bama game when it was Bear Bryant’s last year there, and Bear was smoking a cigar before the game leaned up against the north goal post and my Grandpa was able to smell the smoke from it. Also, insane that tickets were only $10 back then

You forgot to add “a game he lost - and serves him right given his preemptive cigar smoking.”

Also your grandpappy paid good money for those tickets back in that day. Inflations a b!tch.

Atleast the UF game is at the end of the yr when they usually have quit lol

We usually always play them when they have hope
I think this fact is getting largely overlooked, especially in light of our well documented struggles in the swamp. Playing that game the Saturday before Thanksgiving is completely different than playing there in mid September, starting with the weather. We also get them sandwiched between NM St and Vandy and over a month after the Bama game. Our toughest game between Bama and Florida is home against Oklahoma and we have a bye week after that. On the flip side, they get us sandwiched between a road game at Ole Miss and Florida State. They also get Georgia and a road game at Kentucky(a team they have struggled with the last few years) in back to back weeks prior to the Ole Miss game.

This is the part that I call bull$hit on towards Big Nic and TJ Houshmenzadeh’s explanation of trying to save face with everyone. You went to a 3rd rate B1G school, which is probably the 15th most popular athletic event in town, you play in front of 20k fans in a stadium that seats 100k, with a lesser roster, lesser coach, you take less $ in a town where the cost of living is substantially more. There is nothing on paper that possibly went the way that Nico’s camp wanted. They made themselves the poster children for what not to do.
Yeah they overplayed and then got blackballed.

Big risk big reward (or consequence) trying to be the highest paid qb in the country. Should have counted their blessings and been grateful to be the highest paid high school qb in the country, maybe won a playoff game or made an seccg appearance or heck even just had near top of the league numbers before asking for more money, for him or other players.
