5 WRs with 10+ catches in 2024. OSU had 4.

4 WRs with 20+ catches in 2024. OSU had 3.

43% of receptions by top 3 pass catchers for Vols in 2024. OSU 64% of passes caught by 3 WRs.

What’s your next theory?
Because those were 4 future first or second rounders. We should’ve been playing Matthews and Staley over Webb and Nimrod this year. For better or for worse we’ll have no choice but to work our younger guys onto the field this year though

Matthews was hurt.

Staley was redshirting.

Nimrod and Webb played because they’d earned it in practice and the prior season. You don’t play guys who haven’t earned it over guys who have unless you want to lose your team. That’s coaching 101.

That’s unfortunate bc Nimrod and Webb were very bad

Yeah but that poster saw those players 12x during a 365 day stretch and has made the decision it was clear who should’ve been playing!

Webb and Nimrod couldn't get open or catch

And yet we let Boo dictate which side of the ball he’s going to play on to keep him happy because they’re afraid of the negative blowback they’d get from local fans if they let him leave

I’m new here and no offense but are you a parody account?
Heup worried about fan blowback so they put in a package for Boo to appease fans…
Do better.

They got open. In some cases, Nico missed them. In others, Nimrod dropped the ball.

But that’s neither here nor there. Nobody knew Nimrod was going to get a case of the dropsies. He’d performed well the year before and in fall camp.

In-state ATH Joel Wyatt has pushed back his planned July 6th announcement which should not come as a surprise to anyone that has followed along at Volquest. New teams are getting involved, and he is still working through his positional fit. In our estimation, plenty of things continue to make sense here for the Vols, but with him voicing a desire to see multiple programs in the fall on official visits, this one could still have plenty of twists and turns.

after Rouse, you gotta feel good about these battles where we've been #1 for the majority of it

let's close this kid out
I think rev sharing has leveled the money piece of things more this cycle. Definitely outliers like Texas Tech offering way more than market value for some guys but it seems like old school recruiting is more in effect this year than they last few where having long term relationships, a clear plan, and path the NFL are more important. Rouse felt like one where unless Texas offered something crazy late the money was going to be in the same ball park even if we might have been a bit less so it reverts back to the other stuff. For all the talk about Texas budget their class looks similar to ours to this point. I’m sure they will close strong and they have good recruiters on that staff but this idea that everything is always about money is misguided.

yeah i think you may be right. certainly feels like relationships and long term fit have been in the conversation post-commit more than the past few years
