Squirrel White ran a 4.37 in high school. And NFL draft buzz says he ran a 4.28 but I'm not sure if that is true but he is who I was referencing having 4.3 speed but he seemed to struggle a bit this season with injury and some drop issues. Wyatt is 5-6 inches taller than squirrel so having that speed is impressive but so much of that position is about route running and slight body movements. would be interested to see Cam Seldon be used as a receiving back sometime as well given his 4.2 or 4.3 speed and experience as a WR in HS. But he has some development to work on with running lower and staying balanced.

Wyatt doesn’t run 4.3. And he’s not going to play WR in college.

Supposedly Eric Berry ran a 4.35 in HS
NFL Combine he ran 4.47

Very few people can actually run 4.3

I'd bet my real life house that neither White nor Seldon run a 4.2. Have you ever seen that speed on display from either guy? Good players, but that kind of speed is super rare.

not really Wright is a 4.3 guy who may have been capable of a high 4.2 Sampson as well is a mid 4.3 guy. I think a lot of the guys that run 4.3's at the combine have run high 4.2's before but don't do it reliably. I'm confident white can run a high 4.2 or low 4.3 although that speed doesn't help white if he get jammed at the LOS and then 40 times don't always translate to on field speed. If I remember correctly Seldon ran a 4.27 at a pretty respected camp but its been awhile since I looked at it.

Well, the most respected camp of all time (the NFL Combine) has only seen like 15 people ever do it in its 43 year history.

Speculating that several guys who have run in the 4.3s might be capable of hitting the 4.2s is hardly proof of anything.

If you want to believe it's commonplace, I won't spend time talking you out of it.

You don’t watch the combine…

Just take a bit and google some typical 40 times.

With his size and speed and our lack of elite athletes at WR they’d be crazy to not play him on offense
Reading the first part of your sentence my brain was sure the last part was going to agree with me about Defense. If we land Keys we’ll already have 3 big time WR commitments in this class on top of the 6 bigtimers from the previous two classes combined.

IMO with his size and speed you let him wreck shop on Def.

He isn’t reporting for this coming season. If you don’t think things are going to change with all the youth we have coming in and developing at WR either you are pessimistic OR if they don’t we are major trouble and it won’t matter if they put Wyatt at WR or not.

Still need to bring in as many elite athletes as possible at that position

Something along the lines of Kelly Washington type of WR
I honestly haven’t seen enough to evaluate him. I’m just reporting that Tennessee appears to be like him as a defensive player, according to some of the recruiting analysts. At 6-4, he has the frame to add weight and be a Safety or LB/Edge.

Right. Still has a full semester of his junior year. Won’t suit up in Orange and White until September 2026. I think it’s reasonable to expect him to weigh meaningfully more than what he’s currently weighing.

If this guy can get to say 210lbs and retain that speed he would be a freak athlete at Safety or even Nickel. Like DK Metcalf but on defense. Dont see him putting on 40 or 50lbs to play OLB/Edge though. Regardless, he is one of the best athletes in TN and I will be extremely happy for him to be a VOL. Glad CJH has put much effort into building a fence around TN and making sure we get most of the best instate prospects.

Yeah, some have mentioned Edge for him, but I’m with you. That would seem like a stretch to put THAT much weight on him.
