Tl;dr

What does ### have to say about the whole thing? Keep working or wait on asshat to review the requests.

That's good because I've got another situation.

A homeowners association has filed an injunction to stop work on my job site.
We're putting a metal roof on a house and they are saying we don't have proper approval.

That's between the Homeowner and the HOA
As long as the heowner is paying you for the roof keep putting it on

How can a HOA have the right to legally tell somebody what kind of roof they can put on their house? Can they make them pick up their house and move it out of the neighborhood? I don't understand how they can enforce their bullshat.

HOAs are terrible.

I would tell 'em to kiss my rosy red ass and go to hell, go directly to hell, do not pass go and do not collect $200.

It's an old neighborhood. The covenants are way out of date. There is a section that says no satellite dishes. That was before dish TV. Half the houses have them. In roofing it says no tin roofs. There are 9 metal roofs in the neighborhood now. So even if they said "no tin means no metal " they can't stop it now because they have allowed others. Basically they need to discontinue the covenants because they're out of date.

They can enforce their horseshat because you sign an HOA agreement when you purchase your home. I had a mtg with my HOA because they didn't like the fence I built. I pointed out that several neighbors had also violated the same provision and weren't forced to change and I would see them in court. Never heard another word.

Most HOA's will back down if they have set a precedent of allowing violations of covenants. They hope that you don't back them up. Back em up and they fold.

Slice, I don't mean to tell you or your client their business, but if there are existing metal roofs that violate the HOA, they're fawked. And they know it. I can catch a flight and be there in the morning to explain to them. I own a company by the name if Pr**ks R Us. I'm here to help.

You may have noticed we didn't stop working. They said they would have a court order today to stop. I told them to bring it to me. That's when the text messages started. We will continue tomorrow. F them.

Key ingredients. A little hardball never hurts.
