Tired of Hearing This...

Your incorrect. Our total coaches salaries in 2009 were 4th in the SEC. It was an 11% increase over what Fulmer & staff would have made had they been kept. Our HC was still paid well below what top coaches in the conference were making.

Our HC was below top coaches because it was Lane Kiffin, who had done nothing as a HC. If he was given top money, Hamilton made another mistake.

This is my sentiment. I look at the record in the SEC when I judge competitness while some may look at having a good half or a good game. I respest their opinion and understand but I remember when we were everybodies tough game.

Now - let's hope AD Hart gets the job done and we get back to playing Tennessee football once again!

And that is my point. Hamilton and UT was trying to win/be a top SEC program while paying bottom of the SEC money to their head coahes. You pay for a scrub, you get a scrub. You pay a coach less than 90% of the guys around him, things do not pan out well. 2 million dollars is less than Vandy pays James Franklin. I would note he has won more SEC games as well.

Truth be told Kiffen's departure came at the worst time and not a single person saw it coming leaving UT in a very, very bad situation. Dooley wasn't the 1st, 2nd or even 4th choice. No-one especially anyone on a Going-to-A-Bowl Team is taking another job at the 11th hour just ahead of recruiting on top of that.

That's another reason why well see something this week to get a jump and not wait till the and of the year.

+1

We can not wait to make a move till late Nov-Dec. I think we will hurt recruiting by doing that. Hart knows that if he puts upper level SEC money on the table, a winning, proven coach will come to Tennessee.

I agree with the OP; I'm tired of hearing that line too, like Dooley is some kind of hero.

I'll buy no bigger name coach who was proven would take the job, but there were several coaches just like Dooley that would have taken the job. You can't seriously think there weren't several other average mid-major coaches who would have taken the job in a heartbeat.
