I know we are not supposed to have a nail bitter for our first game.... I tip my hat to Appy state. They gave us everything we wanted and going to have a very very good season!

They should win their division at the very least, undefeated, and I hope they kick Miami's teeth in.

Top notch program, and if their coach wants to move on to a larger school, he'll probably have his pick when the positions open up.

That's a giant killer program for sure. Extremely well coached and well developed team.

They played well and I wish them luck in their conference play this year.

They played some hard nosed football. That looked like a really good football team that ran hard and tackled hard.

It's cliche, but can be argued that they legitimately deserved to win. Missed some extremely easy points, mismanaged clock, etc. Even on UT's "best" play, it was an App. St. player making an incredible effort to force a fumble that took an unlucky bounce for them.

Hats tipped completely to App. St.

I will confuse. I really didn't think Appy state would give us much of game after the first quarter. What they put on the field is proof of having a team full of leaders and having a really good coach.

Congrats to my wife's alma mater. App State executed their gameplan until the last quarter, when Tenn started to show some life.

Solid team that exposes our weaknesses - poor progression/passing, questionable O-Line play, among many things. Expect ASU to see another bowl game.

Yeah Appalachian state is better than what us fans thought 11-2 last year they played this like it was their Super Bowl.

Hope they win out. Despite playing like garbage, they still played pretty well. Hats off to you

Like bowling green last year, they are going to surprise people.

They really let it all out for this game. They used they're whole playbook it seems.

Total respect.
We absolutely looked slow, but that does not take away from how fast they looked!
Hell, they even made a comment about how the cameraman couldn't follow them.
Impressive on their part.

They gave us all they had what is sad though it took 13 points to wake this entire team up. Lesson learned hopefully.

They stayed within the plan, which was good, but a few times bit them in the butt. Defense was something else. Yeah, the OL struggled, but App. St. sure plays well together.

They're decent. They don't suck.

But this was far more about Tennessee playing poorly.

I have more reason to believe an 11-2 team who returns almost everybody and is expected to have their best season ever is surprisingly competitive than believing that Tennessee has regressed as a team.
