Time to Start Staub

I like that analogy, casting in the surf, not playing people like a fish.

I offer this analogy... watching Brandon after 5-6x sacks, I thought of when I taught my kid my kid to ride a bike. On day 1, after he fell about 3x, I thought, why keep falling down over and over.... give it a rest, and come back and try tomorrow.

When Brandon went into brain lock after about the 5th sack and his eyes glazed over, he needed a break, just like my kid.

The way Staub can move in the pocket and get RID of the damn ball is exactly what we needed. Definitely deserved a shot in the 4th Q. Say what you want, but he couldn't have done worse than FB.
Weak and inapplicable analogy

I think there should be some slides with rules or guidelines each potential thread artist has to review before they can start a thread.

what are you basing your claims that Staub can move in the pocket and get rid of the ball on?
His 2 starts in the Big 12? get real, he is no more prepared to face Texas than Brandon was/is.

definitely did not deserve a shot. and he absolutely could have done worse. No TD, and he certainly doesn't have the arm to throw the hail mary at the end of the game.
Watching his film. Staub's sketchy stats do not generate much enthusiasm, but he should be coached well enough to play well through a few series. If not, seems doubtful he would still be here.

That's not a rational thought to even be discussed. It's a waste of time
You might want to sit down before reading. This is a sports board. Rational thought is not required. Lookit, Coach might know the situation better than I do. I could be totally wrong. If we do not have a QB with the ability and experience to plug into a situation like this, why don't we? Brandon wants to play and he is talented, but the fact is that Brandon just turned eighteen years old.

OK man let me know when he decides to start that guy.

Staub doesn’t have experience though in game. He’s seen less snaps at this point than Brandon has.

he was a back up at Colorado who lost his job to a freshman, against Big 12 competition.

he is here to have one lost hurrah on his way to a professional career, but not as a player. we have him because having him is better than only having two scholarship QBs.

This was only ever a two person QB battle, Staub has been third string this whole time for a reason.

Brandon's film is far more impressive than anything Staub has put out there. you think Staub is wrestling away from that one sack if Texas has him by the shoe?

I’ll add we did try to get better that could compete. Tennessee pushed for Leavitt. Just didn’t happen.

Leavitt might have helped, but his track record isn't all that and a bag of chips great. He lost to Texas back in 2024, and Mississippi State in 2025 (same team we beat).

at best, if you don't count the houston loss due to his injury late in that game, he is .500 against ranked teams.

“Might know”??? 😂😂😂 Good Lord, I hope so because you don’t have a clue. But by all means, keep digging that hole. We need a little comic relief around here.

He lost to TX in double OT playing at a Big 12 school. I'll give you the MS State upset but Joey A did fine coming from App State where he wasn't surrounded by SEC talent. Leavitt wasn't surrounded by great talent either at Arizona State.
