I will be a VFL but it is getting hysterical. We have the most delusional fan base in the history of CFB. I'm sorry. Let's take it back to when BJ was fired. First name on most of VN mind?? Jon Gruden. So the Coaching search of 2017 started as 2012 round 2. 99% of the “Gruden fans’” would believe anything from someone who “has connections”. Everything they put out there. Gruden is a DONE DEAL. People flipped out. SOON! Was spammed, 41 threads were started about Jon Gruden. He wears an orange tie on MNF. OMG, He is coming it is a sign!!! Goes on a radio show and mentions UT. HE IS COMING.This flight is going from Tampa to Knox. It's him! Beav said so it must be true! People were periscoping from the airport. TBF it was very funny. “you're blowing my cover!”. Don't get me wrong I would take Jon Gruden in a heartbeat but he wasn't coming. Nov 26th. Currie has his guy. His first HFC hire at UT. His first football hire EVER. At the press conference after CBJ had been fired he said: “no search firm I am going to get my guy myself.” Yall said he has his man! And yall thought it was JG. Nope. He picked out a former NFL HC. A guy who rebuilt a program from death. A guy that the players supported. But one person says something about Child rape and everyone jumps on the wagon! FIRE GS FIRE JC. Do I think he knew about it, Yeah. But do i think we should have let UT hire him? Yes. If this child rape was such a big deal why did Ohio State hire him? Where was the backlash there? Wait there wasn't? Were they ok? Yep. Now can UT do better than GS? Yes. Should we? Yes. But Volnation took to Twitter. And JC did it. He called off the deal and screwed all the UT players and Greg. Since we have been rejected by. Mike Gundy, Chip Kelly, Jeff Brohm, and Dave Doeren. No one wants to come to an Athletic Department that has no backbone, That won't stand by your decisions.Now I hearing VN say Sumlin, Miles, Kiffen. Let’s be realistic, you’re an idiot if you think Gruden was the one and only choice for VN. Our first and only choice up til this week was Schiano. Maybe you don’t spend your hard earned dollars at neyland but some of us do and we’re tired of having mediocrity at one of the best facilities in the nation.

Currie is damaged goods at this point. Aside from fact he failed to take any action to help Butch or punt him early, aside from fact his top choice was Schiano (tells everything we need to know), now he’s trotting out failed deals one after another.

We can try to credit fans outcry, but that was only a small part of it. Civil War in the AD office is bigger reason the Schiano deal failed. Currie can salvage something with a good hire - he may have to hold his nose to do it (and block out the Haslam clan.

We may not all agree with each other all of the time, but Tennessee football has the best fanbase in the country.

The rest of the county may think we're delusional hicks and rubes, undeserving of a good coach, but the rest of the country be damned.

We're the most football savvy fans in the nation and we know when we're bring slickered. Put a good product on the field or else.

No one failed here or is responsible but JC. His two biggest failures are:

1. Even having Schiano as his #1 option when there where better candidates out there.

2. Not having the backbone to stick with his decision. If that was his guy own it and have his career balance on it. Now he looks weak and indecisive.

Not much if anything you actually said was true. Except maybe the Gruden stuff. You think finishing less than .500 over ten years is “rebuilding” a program? And did Kelley turn us down? Don’t recall that. And what idiot would interview Brohm, Doeren, and Schiano before taking a look at Les, Kiffin and last resort Tee? Maybe one like you I guess. This is a cluster of epic proportions and anybody else that failed this miserably in their job would have been fired already. And deservedly so. Stop aiming so damn low. That’s what got this program from the late ‘90’s-early 2000’s to where it is now. People like you saying “time to get real”. Get a damn coach that has proven himself at least a little bit. Do you think just because some guy is the president of the Rotary Club automatically makes him a good candidate for President of the US?

I never want to hear Jon Gruden and UT used in the same sentence. No one really gives a s**t what Jon Gruden does with his life as long as he stays away from TN. There is no doubt John Currier and Davenport should be fired after all of this. He should have used a search firm and if he did we would not be where we are today. Some of the names I hear being thrown out there is a disgrace. Whatever happens to the statement UT would make a splash hire? We have made some inquiries and believe me none were very splashing. Could we have won any championship with any of the coaches that turned us down? Probably, NOT. The SEC is a different animal conference to compete in. In order to be successful, we must seek and hire a winning coach no matter the cost. If not, we will never be respectable again. Dave Shaw from Stanford is close to 4.1 million per year. He would be a splash hire. Would he talk to us and has anyone tried. Mike Leach is a home run hire. Has anyone from TN talked to him and made any offers. Les Miles would be a homerun hire too. Until we ask we will never know. I know a lot of people does not like Lane Kiffin, but the young man knows how to coach and Win. He could stand toe to toe with Saban and Saban, Mullen, and Smart do not want to meet him on the field. They won't just come out and say it, but they do not. Mr. John Currier and Bev Davenport what about any, or all of these candidates? Have you tried to contact any of these? The answer is probably no. You rather mess around in the weeds than be in the bushes. It's time for John Currier and Bev Davenport to put up or shut up. Either way, your legacies will be remembered for a long time. Don't forget whichever way this turns out get your resumes updated because you both should be unemployed.

Popular with the players/fans/opponents? No, ultimately very unpopular

Remember the "victory formation" controversy? It was universally viewed by the league as dirty play.
