Geezz...

ESPN - Reports: Donaghy bet on more than 100 games he worked - NBA

Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy bet on more than 100 games that he worked, federal prosecutors said in a court filing Friday, according to media reports.

Donaghy pleaded guilty last year to charges he conspired to engage in wire fraud and transmitted betting information through interstate commerce. He was alleged to have given a pair of gamblers inside information, including tips on which crews would officiate games and how the various officials and players interacted, and collected $5,000 if his picks were correct.

According to court filings, Donaghy bet on about 30 games each season starting in 2003 and 14 games during the 2006-2007 season, the New York Post reported.

The NBA has a major problem here. Any one believe this incident was isolated?

amazing that the NBA has gotten pretty much a free pass on this debacle.

if more names start coming out, it may not be that easy.

right now, they think it's isolated to one guy, so that falls on him and not the league.

That Commerce Clause is deadly. Donaghy better keep singing like a canary.

Funny that you bumped this thread, just got into reading the book "Gaming the Game" about the whole scandal. Very good read.

Donaghy sounds in the book like an out of control idiot.

They would get his pick and then bet the other side real heavy. Changing the line to get a more favorable spread, and to get the other smart money betting with them. Then in about 30 minutes time, they would bet up to 2 million on the side Donaghy was on. Was outrageous.

They would move the line almost 4 to 6 points..
How the hell did the NBA not noticed the line was changing so much hours before a game, is beyond me.

The NFL has people that monitor such things constantly to prevent this, as much as you can, from happening.
