So, does this new information on Clear make it possible that he will be playing 2 sports like he wanted to?

just saying................

He sounds very industrious.

A couple of points...

a) This doesn't hurt us this year unless Rivera gets hurt.

b) Cam was/is going to end up being an O-lineman imo. 280 is awfully heavy to be more than a blocking TE.

It will be very interesting to see how we recruit around this and it wouldn't shock me if CDD sat Clear for a year to see if he and Cam's family can help Cam.

It definitely hurts - they want to run 2 TE sets a lot - so then your #2 TE becomes essentially a starter on those sets - with his blocking ability it would put the defense in a very difficult position as he is a perfect fit for rolling to one side, running play action, suckering everyone up, and then going deep to one of the trio

he was key to what the O staff wants to do on offense imo

that being said - we have some other guys that can fill in but this definitely hurts

he is not off the team yet, but you can bet we just started putting a lot more TE's on our recruiting board

Clear's biggest asset to this team was what he was going to be able to help us do in the run game. He was physical at the point of attack and when he lined up on the left side with Dallas and Tiny we had something scary. Now I don't think any of the other TE's can block as well.

He absolutely would not have been an offensive lineman. He would have been a 2 year starter at TE and one of the best they've had in a while. The kid was super athletic and had very soft hands for someone his size. He would have been a threat as a run blocker and a pass catcher.

This may end up pushing J Croom to the TE position. He has ideal size for a TE and will keep getting bigger and stronger with the S&C program, but he is still a tremendous receiver. He may be one of our players that plays a couple different positions.

No.
