Multicultural Houston
  • 90 languages spoken throughout the area.
  • Diverse population - 37.4 percent Hispanic, 49.3 percent Caucasian, 29.3 percent African-American and 5.3 percent Asian.
  • 83 consulates - the third largest consular corps in the nation.
I love it, period.

I was just bein silly Rexie, I didn't mean to hurt your wittle feelins.

One minute you want to bash someone else's city, not just Memphis by the way, I've seen you do it to others. And now you want to take the moral high ground. You're a joke! Go preach to somebody else. Later

This is such a pointless discussion.

Both cities have numerous pro's and con's.

I don't think anyone is going to reach an agreement by throwing facts off wikipedia at each other...

Rex my opinion of Houston is a little skewed. I stepped off the greyhound bus station downtown and was greeted with the sight of four young males beating another guy to a pulp and then taking his wallet and jewelry at about three in the morning. I had never been to Houston before and have not been back since. I would like to go back but this time I will not take a bus but will drive instead.

You must not have read Dante's Inferno because the greyhound station in houston is one of the circles of hell. In a very halfhearted defense I will point out that the same could be said of almost every greyhound station in a major city.

When I was younger I traveled through many cities by greyhound. I saw some very interesting things. I'm sure you can understand why Houston would be on my most dangerous list. You and jtrain are right about bus stations. I guess they look for the worst location when considering bus station placement in every city.

A University of Memphis Tigers scout flew to Baghdad to watch a young Iraqi play basketball in a new American sponsored league and is very impressed with a young Iraqi player. He arranged for him to come over to the U.S . And play basketball on a scholarship.

A few months later the Tigers are down 10 points to the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles with only five minutes left. Calipari gives the young Iraqi the nod and he goes in. The kid is a sensation, scoring five three-point goals in five minutes and winning the game for the home team Tigers!
>
>
>
> The fans, players and coaches are all delighted. Even ESPN loves this new star!
>
>
>
When the player comes off the court he phones his Mom to tell her about his first day of NCAA basketball.
>
>
>
> "Hello Mom, guess what?" he says in an Iraqi accent. "I played for five minutes today, we were 10 points down, but I scored five three-pointers and
we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all love me."
>
> "Wonderful," says his Mom, "now let me tell you about my day. Your father got shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed and beaten and your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while you were having such great time."
>
>
>
> The young Iraqi is very upset. "Mom, I'm so sorry."
>
>
>
> "All you can say is you're sorry?!?!?!?!?" says his Mom. "It's your fault we moved to Memphis in the first place!"
