Tidbit from just a vol

Yep.. This offense is made for a dual threat, even though when Dobbs came out he wasn't listed as a dual threat.

It's a flexible offense. Both type of QBs have run it very well. The QB that has the offense down mentally should be the one that runs it.

BigOrangeTrain that is exactly what he is saying. Vandy is just better than us. We had no chance going into that game. How can an offense with the most talent in the SEC east be able to outscore Vandy. It's impossible. Why even try, which by the way is what it looked like in the second half.

I have not looked it up, but since he has been H.C., they do not seem to be putting up quite as much as when Chip was there.

Obviously their defense has gotten worse, since that is reason they lost so many games recently.

Not saying he would not be a great hire, just curious on your take of offensive numbers since he was H.C.
Well it is the PAC12 so mentioning that conference and defense in the same sentence is like saying Bigfoot has been found.

seeing is believing...as of now no one knows anything that will actually happen with the football program...not even Butch...:)

GO VOLS!

How do co OCs actually work anyway?

They don't. If UT names a new coach co-OC along with Debord, it's simply a way for CBJ to preserve and respect the reputation of Debord.

Debord has taken a lot of crap from this forum, but he's a seasoned old vet coach. I could see how calling him "co OC" and having his eyes in the booth while the OC is on the field Could be a very effective setup.

Only one guy is going to call the plays.

If he's no better than Debords towel guy then there's no point

Really???? How has it worked with worley, and pocket passer Dobbs?... And how has it worked when Dobbs was mobile?

JAV is well connected and dropped this off today

First, from what I've been told, Butch Jones is a full go at Tennessee. He has kicked the tires at Purdue but there's really no interest there from either side. He's told multiple people that he knows that his best opportunity is the one he already has. I'm sure that there will be more rumors and tire kicking but there's very little chance that he will go elsewhere.

I believe that you will see a better close to recruiting than you might expect and a renewed sense of urgency from the top down. I know that CBJ has told people that he's already reevaluated some of the changes that he made this year and has identified what he sees as success and failure and is already working on a plan for 2017.
Whatever you might think of him, no one works harder than Butch Jones. He is extremely driven.

I also believe, based on several conversations, that CBJ is very serious about bringing in highly regarded assistants to replace anyone who leaves. There will almost certainly be a shared OC position with DeBord coaching the OL and a high profile QB coach. I know that there already has been an informal 3rd party conversation with Helfrich and Applewhite. I believe that both of them would be open to the CO OC idea.

Bob Shoop will be the DC at Tennessee next year. CBJ doesn't want to start over again and Shoop knows that his reputation took a bit of a hit this year. He loves living in Tennessee and he's excited about what can be done with some changes next season.

I've been doubtful about JG as a passer because I've seen him be very inconsistent in that department. Someone I trust very much has relayed to me that he has made a huge leap in the last couple of months specifically. He's really worked very hard to learn the offense and has looked very confident. He's always been an electric runner and now he's rounding into form as a passer. I love QD but if JG keeps improving, especially with a really good QB coach, he's most likely going to be the man.

I've been critical of CBJ this year and I have my doubts still. However, he is the absolute best option for Tennessee for the next couple of years. The worst thing that could happen is for him to leave voluntarily or involuntarily. There isn't anyone who is a viable, better option than Butch right now. No one knows how things will play out. Those who are comparing him to Dooley are foolish and those longing for Kiffin are deluding themselves. The proof will be in the next few weeks as to how the rest of CBJ's tenure will go here. If Bob Shoop is allowed to get coaches of his own choosing and CBJ can attract a young, high profile QB coach, I'll see that as a huge step forward in the evolution of Butch Jones."

well said, except the part about Shoop, he shouldn't have been let on the bus out of Nashville

Is that what you said about Florida?
Gotta see it to believe it.

You' re right about no one knowing, but I like our chances!

Exactly! You based it on WORLEY! :) You haven't thought this out. You over and done it with 15 seconds of television.

Which has a greater chance of happening, Helfrich coming to work for Butch Jones or that Zimbabwe Prince putting $250k in my bank account after I gave him my account number via a very convincing email?

You are quite the "like" seeker, all you have to do is spit some negative diatribe about Butch and the same 20 to 25 negas can't wait to jump on board.

No way you are a true Vol fan. Everything posted in BO91's post can only mean good things for us..

Unfortunately the current state of the program has the feeling of slowly sinking after hitting an iceberg mid-season. So I'm watching to see if the changes Butch makes look like patching the holes with urgency or rearranging chairs.

If he shuffles responsibilities within the current staff or only makes one or two non-coordinator staff changes, then I will assume that means he's still in denial and just rearranging the chairs. If he cracks that staff wide open, makes aggressive S&C changes, and grabs some top-notch recruits to bolster the class then I'll know we've got the right captain.

*stands next to life boats just in case*
