Teams that appear to be locks if today were Selection Sunday:
ACC: Duke, NC State
Big East: Connecticut, West Virginia, Pitt, Villanova
Big 12: Texas
Big Ten: Michigan State, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio State, Iowa
Pac-10: Washington, UCLA, Arizona (watch injury/suspension issues)
SEC: Florida, Tennessee
Other: Memphis, UAB, Gonzaga, Northern Iowa, George Washington (with at-large teams rooting for these teams to win auto bids)

Only 4 Big East teams as locks? How many people have been crowing about the BE having 7 or 8 bids?

I still can't believe it. I was expecting about 12-14 wins.

We're 12-3 with 12 games to go. What do you think? Do we get to 20 BEFORE the SEC tournament starts?

I found this too.

Teams on the Rise

Tennessee: Bruce Pearl's enthusiasm for his job, this team and this sport should be applauded. The Vols' win over Florida proved he was right: Put an exciting, competitive team on the floor and the fans will come. Winning obviously helps, but the atmosphere in Knoxville seemed big-time, not stale as it has been in the past.

20 should be attainable... 3-1 so far in the conference, so if they continue winning 3 out of every 4 conference games that'll give'em 21 by SEC tourney time.

I still can't convince myself of that. Things seem great now, but there has to be a meltdown or two left. I'm going to say 19-8 with win #20 coming in the 1st round of the SEC tournament.

Its nice to see someone calling the atmosphere in TBA for a Men's game "big-time". Let's keep it that way...

Yeah, I think there will be a lull somewhere along the way, as well.

Actually, we may be coming upon it.

As for a win in the SEC Tourney...I'll believe that when I see it.

The problem I have with buying in completely is that I'm not real sure how good Florida really is.

They played us close, they must be pretty good. :shades:

I just like the fact that the guys don't crumble as soon as they get down by 5 or 6 points.

They just don't quit, regardless of the situation. This attitude and style of play has translated into a season that is better than anyone expected.

Florida is the best team in the league. Now that is not saying a whole lot since the conference is down, but you still have to take it for what it is worth right now.

Good point there GA... I tried to prove their HORRIBLE SOS the other night... they haven't played ANYONE. 'Cuse got annihilated by Pitt the other night... we all know that FSU and Miami are mediocre at best...

UT could surprise a lot of people come tourney time. It seems every year, one or two teams get hot and go all the way to the sweet 16 or elite 8, I feel UT could be one of those teams.

Florida played a good game Saturday. The were making clutch free throws in keeping the game close. But, TN in front of the home crowd was just too scrappy and on fire to handle. Florida was that good. But, the Vols just played way beyond their apparent capabilities. At the beginning of the second half Florida had a +5 rebounding margin. 15 minutes later, the Vols had made up 10 on that margin to go +5. Bruce Pearl summed up the speed and energy in that game around the 7 minute mark when the shot clock malfunctioned. The Florida anouncers said that they heard Coarch Pearl tell Donovan "What do we need a shot clock for anyway?" Both teams were running up and down the court all night long. Florida looked great; but, they stepped in front of a speeding freight train Saturday night.

I think UF and LSU are the best teams in the conference. Fortunately, the worse we can perform against these 2 is 1-2.

We have 2 road wins so far, if we get one at MSU - the SEC schedule looks pretty good for us.

I think 8 - 4 over the next 12 is doable. It will be very difficult to beat UF at home. UK is down but I'm not sure about a sweep. Bama, UGA and Vandy are beatable on the road but will also be tough. The MSU road game is critical. Home schedule is much easier.
