Ticket prices going up...again

They are still way cheaper than most all other peer schools.

Here's a breakdown I found, but it doesn't include the "Premium Game" price for UT.

School Conference Premium Games
Alabama $55 $65
South Carolina* $45 $55
Auburn* $50
LSU $50
Tennessee* $50
Ole Miss $50
Georgia* $45**
Arkansas $45
Vanderbilt* $42
Kentucky $40
Mississippi State $40
Florida $32**

Individual game ticket prices for the Vols' home games will be $70 for Florida and Alabama; $50 for UAB, Mississippi State and Kentucky; and $40 for Northern Illinois and Wyoming.

So, unless other schools are jacking up "premium" prices, we will be #1 in cost to see the big games.

Right, but aren't most of the "premium" prices paid by the visiting teams that buy their allotment?

Supply and demand.... simple concept.
You will still see plenty of empties for all but the Bama and UF games. It's not really about supply and demand. It's more about the AD's office wielding the threat of lost seat priority over the heads of garden variety VASF donors. I'm not just picking on UTK here. Most every school that is capable of getting away with it does the same thing. The bad thing is that if it ever gets bad enough for those people to decide not to renew in any significant number there will not be a huge waiting list of people behind them. They'd probably just close the upper deck and add another layer of skyboxes.

While I don't agree with your last part of the statement, there might be some truth to your first.

Not suprised the cost is going up. Inital guess would be to cover the pay raise for Pearl if football money supports the basketball salary.

There was a time, back in the single and dating days, that I would attend every home game. $20 - $30 for face value of a ticket no matter who they were playing. I guess I got married and settled down at the right time. I could not afford to travel and watch the Vols as much now with those prices.

How many tickets do you think are tied to VASF donations? (hint: UT Sports Official Site )

I'm only 24, but I can remember getting tickets in the lower level when I was about 12 and the face value was like $25 against Georgia in 1995. Now against the top teams $70? Its pretty dramatic for the prices to go up 200% in 12 years. I wouldn't pay the university that kind of cash to go to the games. I wonder where they think the money will come from cause some people were no doubt stretched to the limit already.

I'm just glad I have a former player as a friend I can get tickets through for 1/2 price.

Maybe not. Will this affect him too?

In addition to the season ticket price increase, the University of Tennessee also announced that faculty/staff ticket prices will rise from half price to 80 percent of the normal ticket price to coincide with IRS benefit guidelines.

$70 to watch us lose to UF. Talk about buyer's remorse.

But if we all spend say $150, well, we might expect more.

Our spending is mediocre. That could be a problem.

How much would you pay for an SEC championship?

That's easy.... they won them all at home last year.

There's no way to get more... only less. How little will you pay to lose them all?

Yes they won them all at home. Good job. The excitement of showing up for a home game after getting drubbed by UF or UA is unmatched.

No. Illinois... that could be the easy ticket this fall.

I'd suggest giving away the surplus of '#10' jerseys for that game.

I wonder if that # includes "admissions" tied to boxes that do not have an assigned seat? I must admit that I am VERY surprised that not more tickets are tied to VASF donations. I assumed that you had to donate to be able to buy a season ticket.
