Eight-month-old boy pushed under hole in US-Mexico border wall as attempts to cross illegally prove perilous

SAN DIEGO – Eight-month-old Daniel Mendez was dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt. The bottoms of his white-footed onesie were caked in dirt and grime and he was holding his bottle. He smiled at his father, Joel Mendez, one last time before being pushed under a crudely dug hole at the border wall separating Mexico and the United States.

Honduran migrant Mendez, 22, handed off baby Daniel to his 24-year-old girlfriend Yesenia Martinez, who had climbed under moments earlier, ready to cross onto American soil this past Friday. Mendez didn’t make the risky journey. He stayed behind in Tijuana to work because he said he feared immediate deportation if he'd crossed.

Feds find girl, 2, strapped to chest of Teen Boy caught crossing US-Mexico border

SAN DIEGO – Federal officials are trying to track down the mother of a two-year-old girl who was found strapped to the chest of a 17-year-old boy traveling with a group of illegal immigrants just north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Border Patrol agents said late Monday they located the group about two miles north of the border after the sun set on Nov. 27. Some of the members were questioned and claimed to be part of the Central American caravan, federal officials said.


According to the teen, the toddler had been with her mother the night before. The mother “became tired and asked if one of the group members could carry her daughter,” the teen told authorities.
He then offered to carry the child while the mother rested.

When the group got to the U.S.-Mexico border, the toddler was still strapped to him. However, the group he was traveling with separated before crossing into the United States, and the teen claimed he couldn’t find the child’s mother.

After being stopped by federal officials, the little girl was taken to a local youth holding facility. She is currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement as authorities try to locate her mother.

How freaking stupid is this? What responsible mother does this to their two year old? Where was the 17 year old taking her? What was he going to feed her with? The baby still need milk?

What a dmbazz mom.

I'm not sure how many they've caught. I doubt they truly would release that info. And what are we considering terrorist? A guy in a South American cartel that has killed multiple people? As porous as the border is it would be asinine to think anyone wanting to cause harm to our country isn't trying to get in through it.

Stop moving the goal posts. Trump made a statement that we had captured 10 terrorists in the last "very short time" at the border. It is a a lie.
