*Congratulations to Cal. They looked great & absolutely smoked us. If they do a better job on defense they "could" win it all.

*Missed block ( no block ) caused early Ainge blindside fumble returned for a touchdown. Pitiful. On the replay not one person even remotely noticed the guy coming hard from the outside. Not one.

*Longshore & offense shoved a touchdown down our throat at the goal. They pushed us back like we were a 1-AA team ( no offense to App. St. kudos to you guys for beating Mich.)

*Foster is a lazy looking runner but wow does he get it done. Props to him.

*Our offense looked very strong at times and fizzled and blew up at the end.

*We scored plenty of points to win the game. Our defense was pathetic.

*Hardesty showed little running the ball. Where's Creer?

*DeSEAN Jackson made our special teams look like girls. He can smoke it and is legit.

*McCoy put a crushing hit on their freshman phenom running back named Best.

*Our defense wasn't even "ready" to defend against the touchdown when Cal went up 38-21. They were talking about "what" to do which = BAD COACHING.

*Refs called horrible interference call against us and then did not make an obvious one against them.

*Cal put a reserve cornerback in the game and we never once tried to take advantage of him. This equals bad bad coaching.

*When Hefney went out with a ham pull they immediately went down the field on us. That equals good coaching.

*Chris Brown gave a GREAT effort to get a first down. He's a MAN.

*Our offense put up plenty of points to win any ball game. To say our defense was porous would be a compliment. John Chavis either has nothing to work with or he's not getting it done.

*Phillip Fulmer does not put the fear into any team. He's a fine man but he scares NOBODY with his coaching ability. Fulmer to Spurrier is as Sylvester Croom to Urban Meyer.

*I disagree that we should punt inside the 20 down 14. I would have NEVER EVER done that. Would Spurrier have done that? I'd rather lose by 21 than GIVE up at 14.

*What good has it done us to continually be in the top 10 in recruiting in the country?

*I respect that Fulmer isn't a masterful play caller on offense or defense but either Chavis gets it in gear or he needs to go. Tennessee offense virtually NEVER scores more than 40 points so unless the defense can keep the other team from scoring 40 it's going to be a very long year.

*Yet I want nothing more than them to win every game left on the schedule and for every coach to get a pay raise next year.

*Now that's optimism.

*Go Vols.

Go Vols.

3 things I got out of tonights game:

1) VOL offense is ready to go in 2007
2) Chris Brown is my new favorite VOL
3) John Chavis needs to find a new line of work

Yes, either the Defense ate some bad meat before the game or they have huge problems.

Props to our new fresh"MAN" Eric Berry. He looked good and I saw him flying in on many plays.

Yes, he's going to be a beast. I thought our receiver Lucas Taylor looked good too.

And how come someone like Oklahoma puts Adrian Petersen in as a freshman and he all but wins the Heisman.

Fulmer puts Creer into the game like ONCE tonight that I saw and he never got the ball unless I missed it. How hard is it to hand the ball to the guy and tell him....run to the right?

I've heard nothing but great things about that kid. GIVE HIM THE BALL !!!

two plays:

a fumble caused when a Cal defensive player wasn't picked up as he blitzed. 7 points for Cal.

a punt right at one of, if not the most, dangerous punt returners in the country. 7 points for Cal.

those two gifts plus a defense that would rather hug trees than tackle people are what stand out to me.

I think this is a very valuable game for our inexperienced secondary. Not even Florida is this athletic or smooth as Cal's WRs are. Losses always suck, but this one may go very far in prepping us for later games. Last year, we taught Cal how to be tough, This year maybe they taught us to play quick.

Agree 100%...add to that all those flares on 3rd and long and the game could have gone quite differently.

It's a sad sad day when the PAC-10 has to teach an SEC team about quickness.

If our defense plays against Florida like it did against Cal then not only will we won't be punting in the 4th quarter to stay down 14 points....it'll be to keep them from beating us by 40.
