For an unproven guy with poor throwing technique I'd say Tebow gave a pretty good account of himself based on the box score. I'm also scared as heck to think what will happen when we kick off to Harvin given the state of the Vol's special teams. I've read several posts in various threads from people saying that 31 points per game should be enough to win the rest of the games on the schedule but I see two problems with that. First, Cal will not be the best defense UTK faces this season by a longshot. Second, every conference opponent that UTK faces this year, except SC and MissSt, scored more than 31 points this week as did Southern Miss. Hopefully, with some adjustments, UTK will be able to offer a stiffer defensive challenge than some the cupcakes that our fellow conference members played this week but the fact remains that if the Vols give them the opportunity most of our remaining opponents have the ability to put huge point totals on the board and the conservative playcalling is not going to win shootouts.

What you want him to do, walk on water?i saw the fla game and tebow looked alright, but not as good as his stats look...most of his completions were to WIDE open receivers as they easily broke down Western kent's defense. Tebow looked better than i thought he would, but still not as great as his image around the nation.
So what do you think about our first conference game... Obviously the way we played today won't get it done on the 15th.
And please don't anyone say we need to focus on Southern Miss. The team needs to focus on them. I want to talk about Florida and our conference opener.
I'll say it, WE need to focus on SM... I've seen it too many times, our fans need to understand the importance of a good crowd at the SM game.
If our team comes out onto the field and doesn't hear that classic opening game roar b/c of this loss, they could take a serious morale hit. We have enough problems football wise as it is, the last thing we need is a football team that thinks their fanbase has already given up on them.
You may not be concerned about it, but we lose and you will certainly be mad about it.
The team needs to focus on the SMU game. I'm a 16 year old in Dublin, Ohio. I don't think my mental preparation for SMU will actually help.
Call me crazy, but I'm not so sure Cal isn't better than Florida. The RBs and WRs are better for Cal. The QB is more experienced and has a better rapport w/ the WRs. UF lost a LOT on D and WKU is no real gage on how good they are. We at least got an early test while UF had a scrimmage. I don't think it's a lock that we lose this game.

We'll see how crazy I am. UF is missing likely their best O lineman and do not have the offensive speed from top to bottom that Cal displayed. They just don't. Florida hasn't been able to run the ball consistently in years and Cal had 2 STUDS last night in Forcett and the frosh. UF's D is prolly better, but Cal's secondary was solid and their front 7 was disruptive at times. But again...we'll see.
Percy Harvin and Andre Caldwell are great receivers. Florida did lose a lot on D, but are very talented.
