UT wins the SEC next year---the defense will be much better and the offense should be loaded, with much better O-line play.

According to Doug Matthews, Coleman was the best high school QB he's ever seen from the state of Tennessee. I thought it might be a stretch when he said that but it was a nice complement from a former UT assist. coach.
It is a nice compliment, but how many stud QB's does the state of Tennessee produce?

I can understand the love affair with Florida, but UGA?

If anything, it's a slight push to UGA. Moreno is aI can see where UGA scares you, but to automatically assume a loss is laughable.
I agree....I seem to remember a lot of talk last offseason about how UGA was going to be great this year, and while they are "hot" right now they didn't impress before FLA.

I hope you're right. However, until he or Stephens can show they are ready, I just can't get over this uneasy feeling about Crompton. I don't think he'll cost us any games necessarily, but I don't think he's ever going to be a guy that will win us a game. For us to have a chance next year, IMHO, our running game is going to have to a beast. If we're having to beat teams late in the fourth, we might be in trouble.

I think something that was missing from Ainge was confidence.

Crompton has boat loads of that. Driving for a game winning score in the 4th quarter, a QB needs a lot of confidence in himself. Might be too easy of an answer, but I think that is an overlooked aspect of a QB.

But you're right, Tennessee will live and die by the run (sound familiar?)

I am actually pretty excited about Crompton. The three things that stand out to me are....1) He is mobile, which is a quality we have not seen since 98 outside of BS in 04. 2) He is not afraid of contact, I think this was a problem with Ainge. 3) Crompton seems to like throwing deep.....In my opinion all the talk about how the coaching staff wouldn't call for the deep ball was BS, Ainge never seemed comfortable going deep. I don't know if he just refused to stand in the pocket long enough in fear of a sack, just didn't like the looks he got and threw it away or what. Going back to #2 Crompton will be willing to hold the ball that extra second it takes to allow a deep route to develop knowing he is going to get hit.

See, I disagree. I fully feel that Ainge is a QB who doesn't win or lose you game (minus the SECCG). Crompton is more dynamic, IMO.

I'm sure, I'll almost guarantee, Crompton will throw a couple of dumb picks while he's a starter. And we'll all raise hell.

But he'll also throw bombs that goes for TDs and redeem himself the next possession.

I think Crompton is going to be a lot like Ainge, however he might have the deep ball. I'm still not convinced as to whether Ainge was the deep threat problem or if it was the receivers. I think with all of pinky gate and everything else, we would've seen more of Crompton if he is better than Ainge. Time will tell.

I hope Crompton is something special...you know we usually have good luck with Jr. QBs
