Overall, I think the talent is much improved over last year. It's a relatively young group with a lot of potential and I'm excited about them in the future. However, how do you think they will hold up to the likes of a Alabama/LSU teams with proven front lines year in and year out?

Yep, it's clearly better. I'm glad we finally got rid of those pitiful guys like Jacque Mcclendon, Chris Scott, and Vladimir Richard. We're so much better off now.

they're young and unproven. that's really all you can say about them at this point. i don't think it's far fetched to say that they could surprise some people every now and then this year IMO since almost everyone is expecting them to be a weak link this season. can they consistently hang with the more veteran d-lines the sec has to offer up front this year, though? eh, i wouldn't go that far. we're still a ways off.

Lawvol, why do you always have to be a dick when you post? Thanks for the response Duckman.

I think in a few years, we will have one of the top O-lines in the nation, to pair along with a young receiving core and Oku/Williams/Neal in the backfield. The future looks bright if you ask me.

Sorry to offend you. I just find it absurd to act like "the talent is much improved." I, too, think they will get better as the year goes on, and I think it's good the Sullins boys aren't playing. But I don't think we've got anybody as talented as those 3 guys I mentioned.

Beecher, do you think they can sustain against the SEC powers, ie Bama,LSU, UF? I dont mean shut the opposition down, but limit them to a certain extent. For example, UT getting 80+ rushing yards etc

and the Sullins brothers were great. They did a great job against Terrance Cody, oh wait...

It's cool, maybe it was just me who saw it like that.

Do you think in the next few years they can be a legitimate top O-line?

Read up one post and you'll see what I think of the Sullins brothers.

If the guys we have now are so great and talented, I wonder how in the Hell both Sullins brothers got on the field?

I agree that 11 and 12 we will be one of the better lines in the SEC. At the very least much improved as I am very impressed with the recruits we are bringing in and the toughness I am hearing they are bringing. Our running game may be one of the best in the country in 1-2 years and we will see a vast improvement throughout the year! I know Stone and Crowder are down right nasty and have mal-intent when it comes to blocking. Throw in Juwan and the line of scrimmage will be 2-3 yards upfield.:rock2:

Well one got on the field because McNeil was injuried.

lawvol i dont think you watched last year. the only thing vlad was good for was standing there with gloves hangin right above his a$$ in sweatpants with an "injury". seemed lazy to me

I noticed that Vlad didn't play. But we were discussing whether this year's line was more talented than last year. Vlad had loads of talent.

Chris Scott was a great player but I think Schofield and James have more talent than Richard or McClendon.

From a raw talent standpoint, they might be a little better than last year's line. The problem is, when you are starting a true freshman on the line, you have problems with few exceptions. Linemen, in particular, benefit from a couple of years in the strength program. That is why Nebraska in their heyday redshirted almost everyone.

They have some growing to do, and Coach Hiestand will earn his money if he can develop them into a cohesive unit. I believe he is capable.

Luckily we have some playmakers on the ends with a lot of potential. I look for our schemes to get off the short quick passes which will keep the defense honest, and prevent them from loading up to stop the run.

Liking the Hopson avatar bro, hoping for a huge season out of him.

I'm interested in seeing Jujuan James, I think he has the most upside of any of them.

Am I wrong on this?

The OL is the hardest place to evaluate talent, the hardest place to step in and play as a freshman. It is best if you have several 3 stars each year that can get stronger and learn the position so in 3 years down the road they can become starters. 5 star linemen are few and far between. I think that Jawan kid out of GA will be good but no way he steps in and blocks the best d'linemen in the SEC as a freshman.

It was great you guys got Brice Brown but you would have been better served to get the big uglies that open holes anyone can run through.

I do think we are more talented than last year....I think our OL will have its ups and downs this year as an inexperienced unit.....but in '11 an beyond I think our OL will be pretty freakin' good.....we are getting some nice recruits on the OL and don't forget the guys we have playing as freshman this year
