A few excerpts some might find interesting. Pruitt and McClendon were both at UGA in 2014-2015.

“I feel like he can just fit in anywhere he goes, because he’s a player’s coach,” Samuel said on Thursday at SEC media days. “He doesn’t say anything about what he did at Georgia. It’s all about us now. He’s a part of us.”

“He said, ‘Do whatever you got to do to hire him,’” Muschamp said. “He’ll have a tremendous impact on our offense. A guy that’s played the position, coached the position. He’s also coached pretty good running backs. From an evaluation standpoint, he does a really good job. He’s extremely approachable. Very good in the recruiting process. He’s got a tremendous future in front of him.”

“The biggest change I have seen is that when guys are running a vertical, instead of just trying to stretch out the defense, it could really be a play that goes for a score, because when he sees the one-on-one he wants me to throw it,” Bentley said. “He’s just very aggressive, has a very aggressive mindset.”

“I would describe him as more of an up tempo, aggressive mindset (than former offensive coordinator Kurt Roper),” Muschamp said. “Since he’s taken over as coordinator going all the way back to the bowl game, he’s done an outstanding job with our players.”

“I feel like, in order to score points, you have to try to score points,” he said. “That’s going to be my mindset as far as going out there and calling it. Sometimes I’m going to have to get reeled back a little bit, and I’m OK with that. We want to be aggressive in everything we do.”

Gamecocks hope McClendon’s ‘aggressive’ outlook reshapes offense

In 2017, McClendon had a very young stable of receivers, with no seniors on the roster. After an early season injury took standout Deebo Samuel out of the mix, McClendon groomed sophomore Bryan Edwards and true freshmen OrTre Smith and Shi Smith into a formidable unit. McClendon also had success on the recruiting trail, placing 25th on 247Sports recruiter rankings.

McClendon came to Columbia following a stint at his alma mater, the University of Georgia. A former Bulldog wide receiver, McClendon held several titles during the 2015 season, including wide receivers coach, assistant head coach and passing game coordinator. He was named interim head coach on Dec. 3, 2015, and served in that capacity in the 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl, a 24-17 win over Penn State. From 2009-2014, he was the Bulldogs’ running backs coach. McClendon also served as recruiting coordinator in 2014-15.

Hard to listen to Muschump crow about his own OC and not take it with a grain of salt. Would like a more proven play caller. But considering the Admin usually goes with someone unproven, I guess its good he got SCarJr to score this year? I mean they did a fair job of getting the ball downfield and didnt get shut out this year.

Would prefer him over the candidates with no play-calling experience. I'd have about the same amount of confidence in him as I'd have in Osovet or Lindsey.

I mean he was able to score on Clemson. Is that basically his bright spot on his resume besides Muschamp complimenting his own OC?

Muschamp likes him so much, he promoted him last year so Pruitt didn’t get him then. No need to take it with a grain of salt.

I think he'd be a Tier 1 selection. He's a top-notch recruiter and South Carolina's offense looked crazy good against us. He did very well in the 2nd Half of the season. The question is whether we could lure him away from SC.

He's only making $650k at South Carolina, according to this link. Roughly half of what we were paying Helton.

Geez, half?

Helton and Pruit must have had some major issues.

Knoxville is a much better place to live than Columbia, Alabama is the butthole of the south, then Columbia is the armpit.

I done with coaching searches, I am just listening to the band as the ship goes down. I will be happy when someone saves it from hitting the bottom of the ocean.

From what I heard the scores came in mop up time.... I did not watch the game and I am just repeating what I heard from a clemson fan. I just want someone to instill some pride in the program. Pruitt, remember, " a team that fans can be proud of"

SC scored on their first possession and continued scoring throughout the game, just could not keep up with Clemson. The scores were not in mop up time.

I'd take him over most of the names I've seen so far. I thought waiting until after our halftime adjustments had been made to pull out the Silver package (2 TE's) with an unusual blocking scheme at tempo was ingenious. If he'd shown it at all before that, we win that game IMO.

He would be a decent fit for the talent that we have.

You can't really bring in a pure spread, zone read type OC. Our QB's don't have the legs for that.

Yes, that is a good thing.

If we succeed, and someone wants our assistant coaches, then we are typically doing good things.
