Honest question. What is it about our team, specifically the offense, that improves so much late in the game? It seems like we build and build throughout the game before hitting full stride. I don't know enough to understand or analyze it. Curious to hear the thoughts of anyone that has more knowledge than me.

That's the question even the coaches are trying to figure out. Drops, missed assignments on defense etc that the kids know better. Maybe their tight early. Hopefully they get over it.

Not to mention turnovers. We probably win by two scores without the fumbles in the first half. If they can remedy the unexplainable theme of starting slow they have no limits on this season

Might want to look at that first half again.

They do seem to get more creative when behind. Early on we just line up and run a play for the most part, no real motion or anything; when behind though they get more creative with formations (having both tailbacks in for example) and begin using pre-snap motion and misdirection to dictate what we want the defense to do and get favourable match-ups. IMO

When they get behind by 2 scores is when they finally turn Dobbs loose.

LOL please, please keep posting. I love reading this site. It is great entertainment.

Some of our fans are like Cubs baseball fans. They wear the gear but have no clue what the games about.

Nerves, hype and blood pressure settle in on offense. The settling in results in increased execution i.e. dropped passes turn into catches and blown reads on the line turn into blocks. If you go back and watch the first half again you will see some good play calls and even some very aggressive ones. The only call I didn't agree with was the lone third down screen pass but if you watch it over you will see that if Dobbs doesn't over throw Hurd it is going to go for a considerable gain, therefore a good call just poor execution. With us it's all about getting settled into the game earlier and executing the plays better.

To me it's a result of the staff coming out with a script maybe for the first 10-15 plays trying to test the defense on maybe some thing they saw on tape. There's been some execution issues early with dropped ball, fumbles and penalties.

Then the defense hasn't gotten off the field so it starts to pile up 2-4 posseions in to the game . Where we then start seeing success when we get back to "doing what we do".

Especially with Dobbs in the run game. They don't want him taking so many hits so he can be fresh later.

I think most of our issues get compounded by the fact that out defense hasn't been able to get off the field enough early, and has given up big plays early.

I think for us to see a complete game it starts with our defense getting off early. We need to possess the ball more in the 1st half.

Offensively, the game plans haven't been bad. Execution has been the bugaboo early in games. They're calling plays fairly aggressively early on

I think there's a lot of merit to this post.

IMO they try to keep Dobbs from taking hits and don't start calling running plays for him until they are in trouble and have to. Then I think that the defenses scheme early making the same assumption.

You can disagree without being a douche.

I happen to agree with you, but most of your babble is not needed.

The play calling on offense hasn't changed much at halftime the last 2 weeks. For whatever reason the players just can't get out of their own way in the first half. Kinda confusing especially considering the importance of the last 2 games
