Those calling for Fulmer's head

No, that's inaccurate. Winning anything in the NFL takes a level of skill that most college coaches, especially a rube like Haystacks Fulmer, can't even begin to fathom. Also, when I mention what Bob Stoops has done at OU, I don't ever remember touting the 2003 South Division title as a part of his resume.

C'mon hate, Mike Tice is a blithering idiot and won in the NFL. Hell, Barry Switzer won a SB. Dennis Green is generally acknowledged as a good coach.

IMHO (maybe not so humble), those teams with the most all around talent tend to win in the NFL, except when turnovers rear their ugly head.

Would that be the same Barry Switzer that won three National Championships at OU? Terrible choice of an example. Tice-Minimal success, then fired. Green-Now twice fired.

Off Topic: hatvol, what does the hat in hatvol mean and why didn't you capitalize it?

Well that was informative.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program..

Your Don Shula is a moron argument is going to bite you here, but weren't you opining on his inability to win in the modern professional game as good reason to disregard his past success? Exactly the same can be said of Barry Switzer, yes the same crook who cheated his way to three titles at OU running the wishbone, from which he could never change.

Tice won with horrendous teams in Minnesota. Green was fired twice, but your heroes Noll and Landry were also shown the door when they left their gigs.

Insiders may have known him, but he still had cynics about if he could carry that success over to Utah. He gained cred after the season...
Depends on who you talk to. Football fans in the midwest and western US were all quite familiar with him and the fact that he was one of the best out there.

Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl right in the middle of the salary cap, free agency period. Shula was busy getting beaten in the first round or missing the playoffs by then. Also, that's my favorite complaint, "Everyone who wins in college football cheats." That's nothing but noise from whiners whose teams can't cut it.

I didn't realize the Cowboys ran the wishbone. Please send me some film of that.

Switzer took over the back-to-back Super Bowl champions. It didn't take much for him to stand on the sidelines and watch the Cowboys win.
