If the question is most laughably overrated team, the answer is not Florida, and it is not Texas (now 6-3 with a loss to USC). It is Virginia Tech (who lost tonight to Virginia and are now 3-4). I called that straight up.

I feel like Michigan State is continually unaffected by losses in their rankings... I know they lost to the number 1 team but still.

Virginia Tech, UNC and Florida were all badly overrated this season and anyone worth their salt could see it coming. Bad teams from last season that essentially return everyone are still bad teams, big suprise I know.

It happens every year in college basketball, I am just wondering when someone will figure it out.

No you didnt. A healthy VT team is top 10 all day long. If you called the injuries, congrats.

I talked to a D-1 head coach this weekend who told me he didn't think Villanova, at this point, was a top team in many leagues. The coach said 'Nova couldn't win the SEC this year and certainly not the BE. He said he just felt something was "missing" with them.

He said Pitt will be a much tougher test (for UT) and is the real deal.

Pitt's a tough test for anyone. Villanova is a matchup problem for some, but not us.

BPV, Virginia Tech a top 10 team when healthy? I disagree, I can see top 20...

There are plenty of better teams than them if ya ask me, for instance:
-Duke
-Pitt
-Nova
-UT
-OSU
-Kansas State
-Kansas
-Michigan State
-UCONN
-Syracuse
-Kentucky
-Baylor
-Georgetown
-Washington

Did this coach develop his opinion on nova before or after we beat them?

Expect this to be completely ignored. I wonder if he uses the "present no evidence and ignore your opponents refutations" strategy in court.

Va Tech wasn't bad last year. If not for the idiocy of the selection committee, they would have been in the tourney.

That's fair. Hypothetical silliness doesn't do much for me, but VT healthy is a very good basketball team. UF, OTOH, was, is and will forever be the Charmin squad. They needed drastic change to live up. All VT needed was healthy people.

They certainly were not good and are a prime example of how a weak out of conference schedule can kill you come march. Maybe I was being a bit harsh and exaggerating a bit when I said those teams were bad, but my point is that you can't be an underachieving mediocre team at best and the next year be expected to be a top 15 club.

Is KY not overrated?

It is pretty difficult to rate a team that is made up of essentially all freshman. You need a larger sample size to properly evaluate them

If you ask my personal opinion after watching most of their games this season, UK is certainly not the same team as last year. They will probably be a feast or famine team this year, they are capable of beating literally any team in the country because they have deadly three point shooting this year when they are hitting, but as many of us know from past experiences with BP teams that you can lose to almost anyone when you are not hitting.(specifically teams good in transition that can bring in those long rebounds and run with the ball)

UK has no JWall that can straight up punish you for defending the perimeter too closely. Another struggle they will have is what we saw in the UNC game, if the refs continue to call so many tick tac fouls under the basket then UK will struggle with foul trouble, especially considering that they are not deep at the 5.

Yeah, IMO, those schools would be more fit for a tourney run than VT. But I could be wrong.

Im shocked UNC didnt get tons of votes after beating an overrated UK squad. that tends to happen.
