If Fulmer wins, we get to ruin Alabama's season before anyone else gets to. If we lose, Fulmer goes 0-3 against the teams that are our biggest rivals and most likely will have to resign at the end of the season. I think we can take something positive out of Saturday night no matter what happens.

Yeah thats a pretty good way of looking at it. We win no matter what.

a loss to bammer is never a positive. Well, not for a UT fan anyway

Sometimes PJ, I think you are the biggest homer on the board. :)

either that or I have the remarkable ability to separate my feelings for the HC and for the Vols. I also go into every game seeing ways we can win and this week is no exception.

Or for us unfortunate souls living in Dixie (Bama), we can downplay the game all week by saying how much we suck, but deep down inside praying and rooting for the vols to win. And then if we lose, we can say fire Phil. If we win, rub in their ugly faces how we ruined their perfect season despite a 3-4 record. Haha.

I really screwed myself with this game. I live in 'Bama and before the season I told a buddy of mine that is a 'Bama fan that I would take him up for the game because he has never been to Neyland. Fulmer gone or not, I really hope we win this game because I don't want to deal with him for 4 hours on the ride back home.

I'll be at this game too. I live in Bama as well. It will be another LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG year if we don't win.

It is beyond me how anyone that claims to be a fan of UT football could find a positive in losing to UAT.

I am taking my son who lives in BAMA. He says they are so high from all their wins they will not touch the ground for a while. Let's hope they are still up in the sky and forget what they are at Neyland to do....We might could win if they don't show up on the field....Just float around the upper deck. With their big lineman out they don't seem to have the same vigor. Ole Miss nearly beat them after he came out....He is not going to play Saturday....GO VOLS!!!:dance2:

I agree with the sentiment that nothing positive can come from losing to Bama. I hope we beat them and make it 3 times in a row we beat them at our house.

Since I don't think this game alone determines the outcome of whether he stays or goes, there is only one way to win Saturday. Losing to Bama will not bring me any satisfaction what so ever.

Bammers should never be given any hint of a reason to think that they were the ones that got Phil out of Tennessee.

We lose to Bama, Phil should stay to the end of the season, when 'overall performance' can be cited as the reason for his retirement...

My gut tells me that's the plan regardless of weekly results.

My only problem, and it's a very small one that I would get over very, very quickly, is that should UT win, I can gurantee it will be used as justification to keep Fulmer next season. I don't think this game should be used to "overrule" the entire performance.

Now if UT beats Alabama and wins out, including an impressive bowl win, I think it would be hard to argue that Fulmer is gone even if many still thinks he should go. But if UT beats Alabama and still slips up against SC, Vandy, or Kentucky, I don't think "well he beat Bama" should give him some kind of immunity.

But like I said, if we beat Bama, I'd be celebrating so much that for a good while I wouldn't care. I would be laughing at Bama too much.

I dont think Fulmer will get fired mid season. The only way I could see that is if he got embarrased by bama. I mean beat badly like 65-7. Then I still think it would take an embarasing loss by sc or vandy to get him fired before the season is over.

I just wish he would retire and leave with what dignity he has left.
