We'll find out a lot about our football team this week. Georgia fans running their mouth about checkerboarding Neyland in red and black and ESPN putting up Lady Vols logo for our football team! Does our team have any fight in them? Will we look more like North Carolina against Clemson or Tennesse against Florida, Georgia St , Vandy, Missouri Alabama, West Virginia? I don't expect us to win, but I do expect us to come out and fight with heart and look like we are a football team that has been prepared and coached. If we do that maybe there's still hope.

I think we know plenty about our football team, and personally I think we are a solid team.

We will “find out” about QB play this weekend, and that will determine the outlook on the rest of the season.

-Does JG turn a corner and finally wake up?
-Does a backup make an impressive showing and give us hope?
-Are we just screwed all around at QB, and can expect a 2-win season?

All I've wanted to see this year was fight, drive, and a feeling that this program is moving in the right direction in year 2. While my heart at the moment wants to write this season off (and has since GA State), my head is still telling me to at least let the season play out and see if my goals were met. A team that finishes out the year by showing heart, turning around the effort level, getting a few conference wins, and simply restoring hope can still be a moderate success. This season will largely be remembered as a failure to history. However, the way these boys finish the year determines whether that failure will define the future.

Could learn a bit more on direction; however I don’t think we will learn much about the team.

If Tennessee comes out and plays hard, they don’t comment a lot of silly penalties, and they do small things better (line up correctly, don’t miss assignments often, tackle well, ect) we could learn Tennessee is trending upward (at least in a fundamentals aspect).

If Tennessee looks unmotivated, unprepared, continues to make dumb penalties, and looks like they have in previous weeks......we will certainly know the “direction” Tennessee is headed (or rather the direction they will continue to head).

All I know is that we have a lot of freshmen playing better ball than those 4 and 5 year players with the exception of a couple.

A “lot” of freshman is a stretch. Three o linemen are upperclassmen (2 FR). Two of 3 RBs are upperclassmen (1FR). Three WRs are all upperclassmen. Two of the top DL are upperclassmen (1 FR). Three of 4 LBs are upperclassmen (1FR). Two of 4 DBs are upperclassmen (2SO). Preseason Tenn had the most returning starters in the SEC.
You can look at this 2 ways. The upperclassmen are not very good or Pruitt cannot coach them up.
I see 3 very good FR, but I think this team has some decent talent. QB changes everything for the coaches. You absolutely cannot stick to a game plan when you only average 17 ppg in today’s college game. Coaches know it and more importantly the players know it. Notice how much more effort/enthusiasm the team showed when scoring against Aub and Ky vs how they played getting down early in the past 5 (UTC doesn’t count) games. I saw more enthusiasm during the 3 series Maurer played than I have seen any other game. They had hope.

Getting pretty tired of the same old stories.

"JG sucks"
"Pruitt gonna get canned by end of the season"
"Maurer is our saviour"

Anybody out there got any fresh stories or topics?

With today’s young kids being on every social media outlet available knowing checker Neyland has been floating around for weeks if that does not make them want to go out and play their best for 4 quarters nothing will.

well, if they haven't, as a coach, I would make sure they knew it...:D

"It's Not About the X's and the O's It's All About the Jimmy's and the Joe's"

Georgia has Jimmy's and Joe's
Tennessee has Jenny's and Josephine's
